My baby is a great sleeper -- almost too good. I have to wake her up for feedings in the middle of the night, right now, and even when I wake her up, she doesn't seem to want to eat. How soon can I let her sleep? Last night I accidentally slept through the alarm and she went 6 hrs, she was hungry, but didn't wake up until then.

In the early weeks, remember that your baby may not get enough nourishment if he sleeps through the night. Breastfed babies need to breastfeed at least eight to twelve times every 24 hours, usually every two to three hours. Most babies will gradually sleep for longer stretches at night, but they will continue to need night feedings for months.

Anika was the same way at night. she just wanted to sleep....the nurses told me that as long as she was gaining weight well and having lots of wet diapers and regular poops, to not worry about waking her up for feedings....but if she started not having enough wet diapers or whatever, then to start waking her again. i know how frustrating it is to try and wake up a baby that won't wake up...especially to feed. Anika would suck for like 5 seconds then fall back asleep...so frustrating!! lol...good luck
