| I Thank you for this post, I am 4 years out of a relationship that was as close to perfect as I ever expected for my life. | I am a step mother to a 13 year old and my 8 year old son finds her very rude & mean to him. I just tell him to be mean back and not let himself be walked all over. I can't really get mad at her since its not my place, and her dad usually NEVER tells her a thing. She doesn't live with us but visits sometimes. She is usually always with my husbands mom since she lives next door to us. Well, the other night she yelled at my husband and told him that her grandma let her spend the night somewhere so why was he taking her to his house. And continued to yell like a 3 year old, "call grandma she said I could!" So my husband, the silent one,...says nothing and I turn around and tell her that her grandparents are her grandparents, and her mom & dad are her mom and dad so she needs to listen to her father. I said this quite calmly and raging inside. She yells to me at the top of her lungs & mind you,...in the vehicle with my son listening silently and in shock....."YOU BE QUIET, YOUR NOT THE BOSS OF ME!" So I calmly turn around and say,...Im not your boss, but your father is so you need to listen when he says your not sleeping somewhere. Besides he only gets one weekend off the entire month to spend time with all of us as a family so he misses her. My husband NEVER gets after her and gets her anything she wants and needs so she should learn to appreciate him and I really don't think she should have yelled that to me either. It hurt both our feelings. For 2 years she goes to her grandmas house and claims I'm very mean to her n her father n doesn't wanna be over at our home but I AM NEVER MEAN TO HER. She has my mother inlaw turned against me, since my mother inlaw let me know by saying, "she wouldn't lie to me, she is of age to know what's going on!" Even though my step daughter apologizes for the lies she makes up n mean things she says. I feel tension living next door to them now and we are planning on moving away soon due to this uncomfortableness. Well after the yelling that I wasn't her boss, I took her iPad away for 1 week, which I bought her for Xmas and hid it so she think about what she did wrong and learn to respect us since her dad and I give her anything on top of the $1000 child support we give her mom. I'm a full time student and I guess she was used to daddy spending all his check on her, well now he married me and I haven't 8 year old son that doesn't have his biological father so my husband now is raising him as his own. He provides for all of us now and we both have bills so its hard to just get her everything now. I do the finances, I see how much we can spend. Well after the second and third day my husband is already saying he is gonna give it back to her to avoid hearing his parents complain to him but they are not the ones who are going through all this,...it's us. Grandparents are always the nice ones but yet when we were little they grounded us (their children). Ok so following that incident my husband gets very ill with stress n migraine N gets rushed to hospital and I get a text from her that is horribly mean!!! So when my husband text me he was ill I rushed to all hospitals trying to find him and had my best friend calling ER's to try n locate him....when he got better I showed him this and he was in shock. He says I should show his parents so they know how she is being but, is it really their concern? I mean, he is her father....he should fix this. I'm just embarrassed to even show them that. Its hurtful! I really need help because my marriage is going to fall apart if this continues. I love my husband and I love her even if she says mean things. She is 15 years younger than I, I just don't see why she is making my mother in law hate me and making our marriage hard. Please help, do I put her in counseling. Or show the in laws her text so they know what I've been dealing w for 2 years? I pray one day she will just accept me as her friend. I'm not trying to take her moms position. I just want to be her friend and be there when she actually needs me to talk to. I'm here for her. ↑ |
