I have been in a relationship with a divorced man for 1 1/2 years. We love each other very much and are talking marriage. He and his ex wife split up several months before we met and he openly admits that he never would have divorced her because of his two kids, both 5 and 11. He is very happy now to be out of it and cannot believe how blessed we are to be together.

His ex has since had a child with another man but I don't think the relationship is going too well and they are having serious financial problems. My SO and his ex rarely spoke to each other over the course of our relationship. Now, all of a sudden (and partly due to me) they are starting to communicate more regarding the kids. This is a good thing and I am elated. However, she broke down on the phone to him one day, talking about how she had screwed up and wronged him. Suddenly, she is calling more and more and wanting to "chat" when dropping off the kids. My SO has assured me on several occasions that he is fully commited to me and would never go back to her. The problem is, while I am glad they are finally communicating regarding the kids, I also feel a lot of inner turmoil. She has always been nice to me and I have a great relationship with the kids. I guess I needed to vent because I'm quite certain that she is trying to cozy up to my SO. I think she wants him back though probably not out of love but out of a sense of.."well, I thought the grass was greener over here." I think she is worried about the finances and her new relationship and knows she screwed up with her ex. Any advice on how to best deal with my feelings? I don't want to over express them to my SO because I don't want him to feel as though he needs to conceal his communication with her from me so as not to upset me. I have no kids of my own, 35, and am very new to dating someone who is divorced with kids.
