most doctors say this b.c different people different heal times. that and 6 weeks is roughly a good estimate on how long everything can heal properly. it may not hurt, but its not suggested. some women go ahead and have sex, while others wait it out.

.........I waited 3 weeks. I know they say that you should wait 6 weeks but I didn't tear during delivery and..... I just waited 3 weeks.

Ouch! We tried right around the 6 week mark but it still hurt pretty bad - and I only had 1 stitch from a slight tear. Everyone is different, but another reason might be risk of infection? You could always just ask your doctor to give you the green light!

Like mentioned before I think they say 6 weeks to give your body time to heal fully.

With my first pregnancy, I wasn't able to have sex for about 3 months after I had my son! I tore horribly during the birth and ended up with a infection and the meds didn't work so I had to keep going back and getting more so the infection just kept getting worse. Finally it cleared up, but I was still quite sore.

I definately hope that doesn't happen this time around!

yeah they say 6 weeks as an estimate. But even the public health nurse that came to my house after said I could probably try earlier than that.

we waited about 4 weeks and it was fine, except you REALLY need extra lubrication. especially of you're breastfeeding. When breastfeeding it tends to get a bit dry in there.....lol...

You bleed afterwards...some things tear on the inside...it hurts....all reasons to wait until the possiblility of infection has passed. My midwife said if I felt up to it at 5 weeks (AND the bleeding had stopped) that she would be fine with that :)

My dr said we could have sex after 3 weeks..........but i do NOT recomend it at all, it was so painful and unenjoyable.

My Midwife told me I HAD to wait 6 weeks because I had a third degree tear. After 6 weeks, I had sex twice with my hubby and it hurt like hell!!! It has now been10 weeks and we haven't since. I would LOVE to but I am still bleeding some and it is too painful

They say to wait 6 weeks because of the chance of an infection. When I had my son my husband and I waited longer then the 6 weeks because I was scared that it was going to hurt. And because I was freaking out it ended up hurting because I wasn't relaxed enough. This time around we waited until 4 weeks and I had no pain what so ever.
