PLEASE, I would appreciate advice from other homeschoolers. IF YOU DON'T HOMESCHOOL and want to tell me how horrible homeschooling is, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Kindly keep your comments to yourself.
My son is twelve, has ADHD, and has been on medication for bi-polar illness. Homeschooling has been excellent for him. He has been able to work at his own pace and has a good self esteem. (And when he fell apart in the past, he didn't have to worry about the other kids making fun of him.) But, this year he has been refusing to do his work and is getting more behind. Because of his learning disabilities, he is already about a year behind where he should be. His counselor is all for homeschooling and believes it's the best environment for him, but thinks we should send my son to public school for about a month, so that he can see how good he has it at home. He is being very defiant right now. Every reward we have ever offered him does not work and any consequence has not helped either. He just doesn't seem to care this year.
His younger brother and sister are doing great and are in fact working at and above their grade level. What do all you die hard homeschoolers think? Anyone ever had the same situation? ↓
