My 8yr old son has been diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, signs of ODD, signs of autism, and now the pschologist is worried about depression. Take your son to a paediatrician and ask for help and keep asking for help until someone listens to you. I started taking my son to the paediatrician when he started to yell at the teacher in preschool. Before that he had only shown his horrible side to us. It has gotten so bad he now tries to run away from school and yells and screams at his younger siblings. Refuses to do any sort of schoolwork and is spending his days at the office. You also need to take him to a pschologist and have them do tests and referrals to a pschiatrist. Our paediatrician was reluctant to diagnose in preschool but with extra evidence he is on ritalin. Very small dose but is better than before!!!!

Five is so young to be expected to be so good all the time! Have you considered homeschooling? He obviously sounds like he wants to learn from you!

Hi May, my son was only 4 in junior infant when i started receiving complaints from his school about his poor behavior. The Dr also prescribed ritalin to calm him . but u see, that is just to make things easy 4 them in school but it is absolutely useless to him .. he actually needs your ultimate support to teach him a lot and make him feel good about himself . it might help to change his school and try to get him a classroom assistant and extra resource hours in school. the good news is that i did just that , plus i place him on daily intake of I Q fish oil tablets it is a testimony that my sonis the best boy in class . he is very good with his schoolwork. contact me here and we will discuss more on it [email protected]

I am a Senior Citizen but I had a son who was slightly hyper. I put him on the Feingold diet and I highly recommend it. Why give a person, (child or adult) a food which is bad for him and then add another chemical to counteract it? Eliminate the food in the first place. Go to the Feingold Organization and join and get their instructions. A lot cheaper in the long run than doctors and prescriptions, and you will end up with a normal child. Go to http://www.mindwriting.com/Children/junkfood.html to read a very good article. Learn to cook. You cannot feed him commercial food with artificial colors and preservatives. You have to learn what foods contain salicylates, too. Good luck.

I have an 8 yr. old daughter. We struggle everyday with her tantrums. She is perfect at school. A straight A student. Very bright and eager to learn, But at home she screams and yells at almost everything I say. It is very hard to deal with. I have tried so many things but nothing seems to work. If you find anything out let me know too.
