Does anyone else have this problem? My grandson is 7 years old. He is very smart, except he has a problem putting words down on paper that are in his mind. He has be tested, but nothing has been found wrong. I don't want him to become down on school. His father and 2 uncles also had this problem in school, and they where all turned off my school. Two left high school. They are doing find in the work place, but never in school.

Yes, my son and many other children that I work with have/had this problem. The best way to help a child write is to use a formula. Tell your grandson to pick 3 facts about the topic. (You should write these down.) Then have him write a beginning or introductory sentence -- something general. Next, he will write one sentence for each of the 3 facts. Finally, have him write an ending or concluding sentence. By following this formula your grandson will have painlessly written a five sentence paragraph.

If he is having trouble writing an answer to a question, he should use the question to form the answer. eg., How many legs does a caterpillar have? A caterpillar has ___ legs.

For more ideas, check out the Teach All Kids website. It is created for children like your grandson.
Good Luck, Linda.
