It's hunting season in many states today, but is it right? Should animals be killed for any reason, only for food, or not at all? As an alternate discussion should hunting laws remain as they are or be changed? What are your views? ↓

| Yes, I do in fact deer hunt. I even got my first bow hunting deer this year, it was a six-pointer. Right now I am hunting for a huge ten or tweleve-pointer I have been seeing. Do you do any bow hunting? ↑ |

| I dont think that trophy hunting should be allowed! If people are wanting to eat an animal then please do it humanely ( no trapping or other cruel ways ) I also think that we should begin limiting the human population so that the animals can have some of their natural habitat to live in . we have a major problem with overpopulation here concerning deer but it is free season on the coyotes . so how do things balance out? ↑ |

| Human population will control itself in time. The reason the population is so huge now is because farmers often had huge families to help with farm work. Today, kids are an expenditure, not a source of income so people already are having less kids. How many families do you see with more than two kids? ↑ |

| As for trophy hunting, normaly when it is done in say africa, the meat is eaten by local tribespeople. The meat normaly doesn't go to waste and the high paying hunter gets a nice trophy for his wall. ↑ |

| Actually I live further north than you do, I live as far north as you can live in the continnental united states, a place called upper michigan. To your statement oftaking hunters out and shooting them, I will ask how you would feel if you had to fight to the death for the few scraps of food you get to eat. Because of hunters like myself, there are just enough animals to fit the amount of food available in the woods. So the options are do we kill a few animals quickly with a gun, or let every animal starve, a let many of those die of their starvation, the choice of course is obvious. Lastly, as to hunting being needless, tell that to the plains indians whos entire survival depended on hunting. So hunting is NOT cruel, hunting is NOT needless, and the only disbured people are those who wan't to abolish hunting and leave the animals to starve. ↑ |

| Whoa....the redneck comments are not necessary. I used to be against hunting! But...when you see these animals laying on the side of the road suffering b/c of being hit by cars...a quick kill to me seems much more reasonable/responsible these days! Here in good ol Colorado...it is necessary to keep the animal population down b/c after all we are building and taking away their homes...the building here where I live has gone out of control...yep..back to human population...where do these animals go....*smack* hit by a car/truck!! Shoot.....not to mention the damage it does to vehicles or the people driving them! And...please know...I'm not speaking against vegans..or anyone else...not trying to offend here! IMHO....hunting is necessary at times (not trophy hunting)...to keep these animals safe, and....it also keeps them from starving like 10calma said! ↑ |

| Thanks Lori, It's good to see there are some reasonable people out there. That is a good point that less hunting means more car/deer accidents. I guess what the real point is is that the same amount of animals will killed, the only choice is whether they will be gored and eaten alive by other animals, mutilated by cars, or shot quickly and painlessly by a hunter triing to get food for their family. The point is being against hunting is far more cruel to animals than being for it. ↑ |

| Oh one more thing to katie's comment. Deer have no family, not like we think of family. In the wild deer spend a grand total of two years mabey with their mothers, then they are seperated from them by a buck triiing to breed with its mom. The deer are then alone untill after the rut when they find a few deer to survive the winter with, but then they split up as soon as there is enough food on the ground to support them on their own. So what I'm saying is, unless you shot a fawn, there is no family to take them away from. ↑ |
