VERY ADOPTABLE BRINDLE BOXER PIT: Anyone in California who may be looking (or know someone) to adopt a sweet, vivacious, wickedly smart, loyal and loving 'human like' dog? Our 4 year old little girl Arjo - a brindle boxer pit - is pretty sad. We had a baby a year ago and just can't give Arjo the attention she deserves and craves. We also have an ailing 130 pound 12 year old dog that can't play with her anymore and have to keep them apart a lot. We also can't walk both dogs at the same time with a stroller so we've resorted to just keeping her out back a lot, and it's killing us.

We've had her since a really small pup - 'fostering' her after someone found her shivering under a car. She has a LOT of love to give, and is a blast to play with, run with, snuggle with, anything. She is very good with kids and other dogs - her faults would be that she loves to chase anything that runs (like dogs, cats, squirrels, skateboards), and also gets excited on her leash or at our house if other dogs walk past, but would NEVER hurt a fly. She appropriately guards and protects you and the house - mostly from other dogs and scarey strangers, but just barks like crazy (or if she were to get loose, she would just charge up to whomever, then wag her tail and lick them). Scares the crap out of people, but it's really good if you want to keep people away from your house.

Overall I'd say she is a really incredible dog for someone who is a dog lover and considers them companions - also likes feeling safe. If you work long hours, have other dogs or children that take up more of your time...she may not be for you. Ideal would be an active single person or couple who is home more than not, and has some sort of back yard and/or loves walking or running everyday with her. (keeps you in shape :) )

She is in excellent condition/health, is up to date on ALL her shots, etc. and always gets admired by passerbyers b/c of her 'good looks' and sweetness. I can email photos (from pup to present day - with children, other dogs, etc. as well)

LMK if you know of anyone or have any ideas on how we can get her safely adopted SOON. We have to make sure she is going to a good home so they must be OK with us checking out the pad and following up (avoiding predators) - dog lovers will always be OK with this. We will travel a bit, and are willing to take her back if it doesn't work out.
THANKS for any/all help!!

My husband and I had a pitbull/boxer mix from a pup until he was 17 years old. We had him for 5 years and then had our first baby. He was great with our kids. He was a bit hyper, loved to run until about 7 years old. We took him to obedience training. My husband built him a kennel out of galvanized steel, plastic coated fencing. He chewed his way out!! We would love to find another pitbull/boxer mix puppy, he was the best dog for us and our family.

I have a pittbull, he's so sweet and I love him so much. He always gives me joy but not so good with other dog. He always barks with them, and always pull him away from them everytime I take him for a walk. He's taking obedience class now at the SPCA where my husband and I adopted him 10 months ago. Tonight was the 2nd meeting and the trainer ask me to pull him out from the class because he's stalking and barking at the dog next to him. I really feel bad after that. . She said she'll give him a chance next meeting and if he he does it again, my dog will be out from the the class ,, and consider getting a private class.
Would anyone give me any opinion about this. I would really like to hear from anyone.

hello. I bought a dog and the woman wrote its a boxer mix. I asked her if she knows what else is in the mix and she said its a boxer labrador mix. Now about 30 people said there is really no labrador in it and many said its a boxer pitbull mix. I wanted to ask you what you think, here are some pics:

do
you think its a pitbull boxer mix?

The dog is 20.8 inches high (at shoulders)
and 52 pounds. 7 months old.

I'd like it was a pit boxer mix but on the other hand it doesnt matter cause i love her (cause she is sooo cool doggy) =)
and she is very hyper when she gets on grass or when i start running.

My boyfriend got me a pitbull/boxer mix almost 2 years ago when he was just a puppy. We have been through many hard times, including treating him for Parvo, which all of his other litter mates have died from. He has become my best friend, and my closest companion. He greets me when I walk into the house every weekend from college, and sleeps in my bed throughout the week waiting for me to come home. In fact, my dad and I were playing with him, his name is Runt, and Runt thought my dad was getting too aggressive with me, and snapped at his face. He wouldnt let dad get close to me for the longest time. So anyway, he is very loyal, and i love him to death. However, I have a problem. He is a little under 2 years old, weighs 55lbs., and he shatters his collars. When he is tied up, another dog comes onto our yard in the middle of the night, and fights our older dog. My dad watched Runt lunge one time, and saw the metal-linked collar shatter into the air. All he could recover was about a 2 inch piece. Any advice?

dogs can have many different colors and many actions but dogs can love and think like humans dogs are your best friend and very sweet dogs arent mean cause the are you tought them to be mean or they have been treated wrong a visious dog can learn things by other animals actions and by being mistreated

I just got an 11 week old pitbull boxer male pup. He seems to be a very sweet dog so far, but Im finding he is food agressive. I have a 12 month old son and this worries me. I put my hand in his bowl while he was eating to see how he would react.. at first he was a little sketchy. The more I did it he grawled and then bit me. I took the food away and put him in his kennel for awhile, and started all over again. Im worried as he gets older if I dont break him of this habit that he will do harm to my son. I dont want to give up on him just yet, cause other than that he is a very affectionate pup. Anyone have any advice in what I should do to correct this problem? Please send me an e-mail. its [email protected] thanks so much I appreicate it!

I just bought a pit bull boxer mix. A bull boxer if you will and this dog is the most laid back puppy I have ever owned. It's not that he's lazy or anything because my girlfriend also bought a dobermen australian shepperd mix and she keeps him on his toes. He's not as smart as her yet but he makes up for it with his size and strength. This dogs only 10 weeks old and already weighs 30 pounds. You won't find an easier going dog so if you love big breeds that are just lovers this is a good mix to have.

I've just recently rescued a boxer/pitt that was adandonded in a car and left to starve to death. Poor thing was about 10lbs at what we guess to be about 16wks. Needless to say 4 weeks later my little "cooper" is doing greatl He is now a healthy 23lbs and is the smartest dog I have EVER had. He had learned all the "basic" commands sit, lay down, stay in the first week and was housebroken by the end of the second week. I'm still amazed. My question: can anyone advise the normal adult size for these dogs?

I rescued a boxer/pit mix from my neighbor next door. She was on her way to the pound because they said she was a terror !! I worked with her for 3 weeks, she love bit me until I bled, jumped on me, chewed everything I owned outside. I was ready to give up. I persisted in discipline, it took alot of work but it turned her around. She is not a terror but one of the sweetest dogs I've ever owned. She still chewes alot & get's agressive at times but I have come to love her and am willing to contine to work with her. I would appreciate any tips to help with the chewing thing.

I got my pitt/boxer when he was 9 mos. old. He'd been trained and only lived indoors. And even though we live in the country and have 35 acres for him to roam, he didn't seem to be able to live outdoors. He would get sidetracked and run for miles. We had to hunt him down. He also killed some of our chickens. But we disciplined him and now he's our "baby". He lives indoors and is well behaved. When he does go out, we make sure he comes back within a short time. This dog is intimidating to strangers, but is extremely gentle and loving. He comes on strong but has never in 5 yrs. hurt anyone. He's fairly large, 45-50 lbs. but still sits with me. I've never been much of a "dog" person, have always loved cats. But this dog, his name is Bob, is my baby. I absolutely love him. I've had several offers to sell him. Won't do it.

Last night, upon coming home from dinner, a pit/boxer mix walked up into our garage. She is very sweet and seems older. She is not eating today and seems to be very sleepy. Not playful. Does anyone else think she could be homesick? We have signs up to try and find her owner. She knows to "sit" and "shake" so she obviously belonged to someone. I'd love to keep her but can't.
