My schnoodle is so druged up, it is really sad! She is having more sezures so I have increased her meds yet again. She is barley walking, I will speak to the doc about puting her on Potassium Bromide. I think her phenobarb levels are to high and thats why she is drunk like.

Don't increase the meds without talking to the vet first.

So then you did discuss it with your vet first?

I have no choice but to speak to my vet, she is the one who prescribes the meds. My vet knows me and she also knows that I am some what knowlagable with my dogs condition. The poor little thing has had this condition for quite some time now, we have been raising and decreesing her phenabarbital for about 6 month. She will have a seizure.... I will increase the meds for about 5 days to prevent clusters but as soon as I drop her back to the normal dose she will have a seizure. After the last seizure I increased it and left her on that dose, about two weeks later she had another so again I increased it for the 5 days. This time I think her levels got to high she was appearing drunk like, even more than in the past. I called the vet explained that I wanted her levels checked and I would like to have her put on Potassium bromide. She told me to bring her in if her phenabarb levels are to high we would put her on it. We had the levels done today and yes they are in fact at toxic levels! we will in about two weeks start backing her of the phenabarb. For now she remains drunk like, I think I will drop her to a lower dose and see how many days I can get. If she has no seizures then great! if she does then I'll have to put her back up. It is a real rolla coster with this med, to hight she is drunk to low she has seizures . I do know .....she cant stay on the dose she is on for long, she can barely stand! I have to carry her out to go to the bathroom. I also have to look at the quality of life she is leading, if I can back of a little on the phenabarb and give her a couple of good days in between the seizures then thats what i will do.
