You are due in a few weeks (congrats), that has a lot to do with it. If this is something she has started again she will probably stop once the baby is here. She can sense the up coming birth. Have you tried positive reinforcement? She is worried about you when you are gone. So, practice leaving the room and then rentering with a treat, that she sits for. This will teach her to sit when you walk in verses jumping up on you. She will not have learned this after one or two tries, stay vigilant! Keep me posted. ↑ |
Positive reinforcement is the ONLY way to go in this instance.
When you catch her sitting, say SIT, then say good dog, repeat it a couple of times each time you get the chance. Make a HUGE deal out of it when she does sit. Dont give her food, as she will expect food, and when she doesnt get it the behaviour will return. ↑ |
Thanks T-Rabbit. I will give that a try. We used to make her sit but it has become difficult to get her to do anything. She is still a pup but I was just concerned that she has started up again. She has a lot of excess energy so I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but she is in an agility course and we have huge property for her to run, another dog for her to fight with and chase, as well as off leash walks. I have no idea where she finds the energy to jump! ↑ |
You might want to start carrying a baby doll wraped in a blanket as well.
This will help you out a lot when the baby gets here. ↑ |
We started the doll thing just over a week ago. She is 8 months and the other one is 5 months (he is too stupid to cause any problems lol) She is a shepherd X lab X border collie and he is a rhodesian ridgeback X shepherd. Both are spca specials haha. I appreciate your help! ↑ |
No prob glad to be of some use.lol ↑ |
