I accidently tripped over about two weeks ago and dropped one of my guinea pigs!

She fell onto some grass, but was lying on her side squealing like crazy! I panicked and was worried that her back was broken!

I managed to locate the Emergency Vets and took her through at about 9pm at night. She had terrible weakness in her back legs and kept making strange noises.

The vet examined her and said that he didn't think anything was broken. He gave her a steroid injection to relieve any swelling around her back and also a painkilling injection.

I took her home and kept her in the old mouse container so that she'd be warm. She wasn't very happy. I had to give her water and mushed up guinea pig food through a syringe as she wasn't eating or drinking.

I took her back to the vets the next morning for a check up and the vet said she seemed okay, but to make sure that she was eating and drinking.

I kept her in the mouse container for a couple more days then let her go back into her usual cage with her friend.

She's back to normal now!

Phew!

Atomic it was an accident and you sought medical treatment for him. Every one has accidents all you can do is try to make him better, and thats just what you did! Its good to hear he is fine!

I hope she is okay!!! But accidents happen. And you did the right thing by taking her to the vet. I don't know how many times I have stepped on the dogs feet.

I stepped on my 3lb Chihuahuas little foot just the other day. The poor little guy was so lucky I have quick responses and didn't put my full weight down on it. His little foot is about the size of my pinkie finger, it could have easily gotten broken.
