| Reasons Terri thinks she should have a pitbull 1. She likes the breed Reasons no one should be allowed to own a pitbull 1. People are scared of them, they should be, why should this breed be bestowed on the rest of the public the sake of people who like the breed? Especially when there are other breeds to choose from? 2. Some owners have them, get sick of them and let them run wild, they breed with other dogs and we end up with savage half breeds. They also get out of their owners hands and attack and kill people, including children 3. The American Pitbull is responsible for 50% of attacks on people- the remaining 50% is made up of Pitbull mixes, Rottweilers and German Shepards 4. All dogs can be aggressive, but the Bull breeds are more likely to be, they are genetically wired. When they attack instead of a single bite. They do not let go, they fight to the death. 5. Pit bulls can inflict such terrible damage because their massive skulls and powerful jaws and oversized teeth. This is what most people here refuse to acknowledge. You guys just keep on saying "Well any dog can be aggressive" other breeds do not have the physical capabilty to rip you to shreds 6. They are used for illegal reasons, to protect crack houses, gangsters, drug crops and dog fighting. Many die in dog fights, they often find carcasses of fighting dogs dumped in rivers that have lost their battles. 7. Its hard to get home insurance if you own a dangerous breed of dog. Pitbulls have been deemed dangerous. Its legal now. The pitbull, again, is inately aggressive. Try and win an Insurance claim, if your pitbull rips someone apart! Impossible! 8. Pit bulls are genetically wired to kill other dogs. 9. The pit bull is quicker to anger than most dogs, probably due to the breed's unusually high level of the neurotransmitter L-tyrosine. Second, pit bulls are frighteningly tenacious; their attacks frequently last for 15 minutes or longer, and nothing—hoses, violent blows or kicks—can easily stop them. That's because of the third behavioral anomaly: the breed's remarkable insensitivity to pain. Most dogs beaten in a fight will submit the next time they see the victor. Not a defeated pit bull, who will tear into his onetime vanquisher. This, too, has to do with brain chemistry. The body releases endorphins as a natural painkiller. Pit bulls seem extra-sensitive to endorphins and may generate higher levels of the chemical than other dogs. Endorphins are also addictive: "The dogs may be junkies, seeking pain so they can get the endorphin buzz they crave," 10. Most dogs warn you before they attack, growling or barking to tell you how angry they are—"so they don't have to fight," ASPCA advisor and animal geneticist Stephen Zawistowski stresses. Not the pit bull, which attacks without warning. Most dogs, too, will bow to signal that they want to frolic. Again, not the pit bull, which may follow an apparently playful bow with a lethal assault. 11. Pit-bull expert Semencic makes a more sophisticated argument as to why pit bulls shouldn't be singled out for regulation. Pit bulls, he says, were bred not to be aggressive to people. "A pit bull that attacked humans would have been useless to dog fighters," he contends; "the dogs needed to be handled by strangers in the middle of a fight." Any dog that went after a handler was immediately "culled"—that is, put to death. But Semencic's argument assumes that the culling of man-aggressive dogs is still going on—which it isn't. | Reasons Terri HAS a pitbull named Toby: 1. He is the smartest dog I know of. 2. He loves everyone. 3. I take him to work with me and EVERYONE loves him. 4. He is my companion. 5. He makes me laugh everyday. 6. When I'm in a bad mood, he always turns me around. 7. He keeps me warm at night 8. He loves children 9. He loves to swim in the pool and ocean. 10. He is like my child. You may think I have Toby for protection, but as far as protection goes..... Their really is none. He will will lick you to death, that's about it. Not all people with pitbulls raise them to be fighters, or aggressive. I'd say Toby acts just like a Lab does. I raised him with a Golden Retriever and a Chow mix. They all got along great, they still do. ↑ |

| the only reason i could say that makes a pittie breed bad is if they get into the wrong hands...yes they can do damage any dog can, a wolfhybrid can be more dangerous than a pittie.... ↑ |

| I think the reason alot of people think they are bad is because on more than one occasion little people with little minds get these dogs and mistreat them and think it makes them bigger than they really are. Only a little minded person could or would think a dog of any breed is bad based on its liniage! ↑ |
