i don't think that is much to worry about with having a pet turtle. afterall, people have been keeping turtles as pets for many years. also, if i remember correctly the turtle is going to be spending most of it's time in the aquarium, so it's not like your son is going to be playing around with it all day as if it were dog.

Your kids will be fine as long as you wash your hand after each time you handle them and change the water. turtles are fun and easy to maintain pets as long as they have good homes.

Don't worry just don't let him have it around the hose keep it in a tank and if he hold it get him plastic gloves and have him wash his hands and turtle supplies are pricey.

I found 2 baby turtles, coming up from the sand at my campsite. My 5 yr old son was so excited. I got a small tank for them and have had them all day. Just not sure if that is the best thing for the turtles or my family. please help!

How big are red eared slider eggs? Also, how old can a red eared slider be to be able to produce a baby? I do not know how old mine is, but can you also give me the size of a mature parent?

I have just rescued two turtles and have done excessive research into them - they are alot of work - BUT They are fun pets to have and certainly have their own personalities - always wash your hands after playing with them and your'll be fine !!!
