I know that I do not want a family to go into debt to have a child. I do not come on this site to find a family. But I have had alot of people email me. And I have found a wonderful family I'm speaking with. But they way you phrase "what are you women charging"... I find a little insulting. You make it sound that all we are doing is trying to make money. I wish I could have a child for another family and do it for nothing. But I'm not in that position. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hurting for money. But I just can't do that. I know for a fact that alot of first time surrogate mothers can charge anywhere for $18-$22 thousand just for their compensation.
And then there are extras...for example:
1. travel expenses
2. maternity clothes
3. money for the implantation of the embryo (for a GS), and for insemenation (for a TS)
4. extra for carrying multiples
5. extra for a c-section
6. house cleaning (for later on in pregancy)
7. insurance (only if the surrogate insurance will not cover it)
plus there can be other expenses.

I'm asking for a between $15-$18 thousand. = =

Name: momof1 Title: surrogate mother looking for a wonderful couple

Hello all.. I usually stay in the adoption forum. I had been talking to a wonderful couple, and we were on our way to starting our surrogacy journey. Sadly the wife has become ill, and they are not ready to move forward with it. I'm saddend, but I understand their situation. But that puts me back at square one... I again have to start looking for a new family to work with. Would love to talk to anyone that has any questions, or who is intrested in surrogacy!

And do you know about surrogate scams?

Example of Surrogate Scam:

Pair charged in surrogate scam

The Tampa couple sent out phony sonograms and bilked money from couples wanting children, authorities say.

Patricia Riordan nearly died after losing the twins she was carrying last December.

But the 39-year-old Arizona woman was determined to become a mother. She turned to a Web site that links would-be parents with surrogate mothers.

That's where she found Brandy Lynn Edinger, a 23-year-old Tampa woman who agreed to carry a child for Riordan for $7,000.

Riordan signed a contract. Her mother took out a second mortgage to pay the $1,000 down payment. Edinger sent promising e-mails: "Keep your head high; things will work out. God has a plan for us all, and I'm sure a second little angel is in your plan. Love, Peace and Happiness, Brandy."

Riordan said she trusted Edinger: "She told me she had done this twice before."

But Edinger became difficult to reach. She wouldn't return calls or e-mails. Riordan began to suspect what investigators now tell her is true: All of it was lies.

They say Riordan was one of a growing number of people across the country whom Edinger and Waldo Frank Carbo, 27, both of 6715 Glen Forest Court, swindled out of money.

According to Hillsborough sheriff's reports, the couple pretended to perform inseminations, sent victims phony sonograms and fake medical records that said Edinger was pregnant. She never was.

They conned more than $18,000 out of people -- from Pennsylvania to California -- until complaints began pouring in. The couple was arrested Monday in Orlando and charged with scheme to defraud.

"We've seen cybersex and prostitution," said Hillsborough sheriff's spokesman Rod Reder. "We've seen people fly in to meet with what they think is a 12- or 14-year-old girl. But we've never seen a surrogacy (scam) case via the Internet."

Authorities were quick to note that the Web site -- www.surromomsonline.com -- is a legitimate Web site. The site notes in a disclaimer that "it is impossible for us to review every message and/or ad to confirm the validity of information posted."

The result meant heartache for Lisa and John Dean of Pennsylvania, who said they gave $5,000 to Edinger and Carbo before they realized they were being duped.

The Deans flew the pair from Tampa for a visit, treated them to a seafood dinner, put them up in a hotel and went shopping with them in Pittsburgh.

Edinger said she wanted to make their dreams come true and even told them she was pregnant with twins.

"We were going out, buying double of everything," Lisa Dean said. "It was heartbreaking. It was very hard for us."

Edinger has no prior criminal record in Florida, according to state records. Carbo faces unrelated larceny charges in Orange County in connection with stolen birds.

The two have been transferred from Orlando to Hillsborough's Orient Road Jail. Carbo was being held without bail Friday, and Edinger was being held in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Both Riordan and the Deans have since found new surrogate mothers whom they trust and who actually are pregnant. But both say the scars remain.

"I just didn't think people out there could play with your emotions like that," Lisa Dean said. ?
