Hi, I just had another ultrasound, and doctor told me that my son has umblical cord wrapped around his neck, but the heartbeat is normal. I'm worried as hell here, has anyone had this kind of thing?? Just need someone to tell me it's not so serious! btw, I'm 38 weeks now, they said I might deliver in a week ...

My sister was born with her cord so tight around her head she was blue. The doctor and the nurses were able to remove the cord in less than two minutes. She is now a normal, healthy 9 year old girl.

Thank you, I feel better now. Someone told me, doctors might want to induce the labor, just in case.. and it really scared me...

I hate to tell you this but I would see if there's a way to induce. I had this happen to me & my son was stillborn @ 37 1/2 wks. When your pg people don't want to tell you this, however if I could save on person from the heartbreak I've experienced, it is worth it. Technically your full term, plus the baby will only get bigger. This could cause it to get even more tight. Is is possible for them to do a level 2 or 3-d u/s to see if it's wrapped around the arm & neck--highly possible. Statistics show 80% of children have the cord wrapped around the neck. So of course it is not a death sentence. It really depends on how tight it is & how many times that make a difference. However I would request extra tests just to be sure.

Well, they just did an u/s, they did say it was wrapped around his neck, but they said, it's not that bad, cause the heartbeat it normal, and they prescribed me some medecine, vitamins, etc

My niece had her cord wrapped around her neck. When my sister was delivering the doctors warned us to not tell my sister as soon as we found out because stress from the mother can cause it to be worse on the baby. You arent going to do any good for yourself or the baby if you stress about this. I know its hard but try. Hang in there and everything will be right.
