Hello. My name is Jessica and I have a beautiful 3 yr old boy with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus (w/shunt), seizures, and slit ventricle syndrome. He was born with the umbilical cord tied in a true knot blocking his oxygen and suffered a brain hemorrhage which led to everything else. I'm 29 and I'm raising him alone along with my 7 month old babygirl. I think I'm doing a good job thus far but I would really like to be able to communicate with other mothers of similar children, possibly in similar situations. My son doesn't walk yet, he rolls to get where he wants to go, and he doesn't eat solid foods, I have to puree everything. He is speaking gibber gabber which only me and my mom can understand. If there's anyone out there in a similar situation, please respond. Thank you.

Hi Jessica,I have a son who is 4yrs old.Not entirely the same situation as yours but a few similararities. My son was born with hydrocephalus(w/shunt) due to a cyst in the L-side of his brain. This cyst took up most of the left side where the brain should have been and compressed the brain. When the shunt was inserted and the fluid was drained the brain then began to grow.He had a stroke in the womb also.He started to visually seizure at 7months but they think he was seizuring from birth and no-one knew.He was having up to 7 a day on the highest meds they could give and it wasnt stopping or redusing them.He hasnt had a seizure for nearly 2yrs now.He was diagnosed with cp when he was 18 months. He started to walk holding someones hand when he was 3.He will now walk with a frame on short distances but someone needs to be there to help him at all times as he is quite visually impaired as well.My son also took a very long time to speak and not many people could understand him.His milestones were very slow to come but when they did he did them very quickly.I also have a 2yr old daughter who is very full on and to be honest i proberly find her more difficult to deal with at times than my sons probs are.
