i dont think it will affect your child if you stop now. i know you said you drank 2-3 times a week but how much did you drink each time?

forty-four percent of women who drink heavily during pregnancy will have an fas baby. unfortunately, the beginning of the pregnancy is the most critical for development. look up fetal alcohol syndrome on the net. it will give you the info you need.

I have a 12 yr old son with FAS. His birth mother only drank occassionally yet it happened at times when it had a major effect on her growing baby. You can't really predict if your baby will have fas or not. A mother can have twins where one has FAS and the other twin doesn't....it all depends on how each baby handles the alcohol. All you can do at this point is not to drink and say lots of prayers. The good news is that children with FAS can sometimes have pretty normal lives. The amount of damage is directly lonked to the amount of alcohol intake so if you've stopped drinking you've already increased the chances of your baby being ok even if it ended up with FAS it won't be as severe.
If you have any questions about FAS please feel free to ask me...I've become almost an expert on the subject.

yes, there is a chance you have created perm. brain damage to your child. In the future, it's not a single drop. When you are of child bearing age, you need to use protection or abstain from alcohol and take folic acid. best wishes to your child.
