My son was born with down syndrome and I was wondering if anyone else was out there to talk to. I am a single parent and find it hard to balance a busy work schedule with my son's needs. Any tips?

i dont have a child that has downs but i was wondering what causes it? im pregnant and i dont wanna be scared that my baby isnt going to come out completely healthy but i cant help to stop and think. can you tell that your baby is a downs before s/he comes out? does it depend on your family background? i hope everything goes well for you and you manage it somehow...what do you mean..all of his needs? you cant take him to a daycare like you can with babies without downs?

I am not sure if you are keeping track of responses
I have just come across this site - which I think is a great idea
I work full time and have 2 boys, diagnosed with autism
I am finding it difficult and things are starting to slip away after such a long time of trying to keep it together without talking to someone at all
I hope someone can provide some ideas for working moms
If you just want to 'vent', you can also email again -

Kady,
I just came upon this site tonight as well. Maybe it has something to do with the new year! I am glad to hear that I am not the only one feel the way you do. I'm a single parent, work fulltime as well and have son, diagnosed with PDD-NOS and a daughter, diagnosed with ADHD. I was just commenting on this site, that I think it would be nice to see some single moms develop some kind of coop childcare, roommate situations and etc. I know the difficulties of parenting special needs children. Anyone reading this, feel free to write me at [email protected]. Take care and have a Happy New Year!

hi i hav a 3 months old baby with downs my husband works part time and i look after him, he also has a hole in the heart and no bum hole he has a numerous amount of problems, were always in and out of hospital, ive told my husband to leave work, were applying for housing benifit, we also have applyed for disabilty allowance and carers allowence, and also income sopport. so we will get our housing paid and get the benifits the only things we have to pay are gas and electric and normal bills, ou benifits are all coming threw now so we are ok and have more time to be with our baby who needs us more than ever, so my advice to u is to get threw top benifits and it will work out better 4 u, and ur son and then in the long run when ur son is more capable then start working again, i hope this helps and do get in touch
