I really need some help from experianced mammys.
Im 18yrs (19 on wedns!) and i had a really traumatic pregnancy _ early labour 22weeks and numerous uti's and problems thru preg. .. at 34-35 weeks i was hospitalised with pain , they didint believe me at all, turned out i was abrupting for 6 days and all the blood stayed inside as i didnt hemmorage !
another few hours and both of us would have died.
so it was really painful and traumatic,.
since then baby has been unwell alot but thankfully has been doing great the last 2 weeks .... but today we went for a check up and i just found out she is most likely deaf.

i had noticed she didnt react to sound but hoped it was because she is so young .. she is only 7weeks old (should be only 2weeks) ,..

are any of you guys parents to deaf children?
what signs should i watch out for??
how can i help my baby girl???

please it really upsets me she's never goin to hear the birds sing or nursery rythems .... :(

I don't know how much I can help you, I have just moved to another state to help my son-in-law raise my three grandchildren, the 4 year old is deaf. It has been a hard road to get help. Start with you local school district. They can direct you to programs including university training programs for sign language. Also check you tube to learn the basic sign language signs. best of luck.

Hello, how are you... I was 15 years years old, when I gave birth to my son Brendin who is now 6. He was born deaf.. I know how much you may blain your self- its not your fault.. you get your baby invovle with early intervention asap. my son was 2 months old and i statred to sign, the baby has to larn 100 signs before he or she can do one him or her slef. he signed when we was about 10 months old. shortly after that he got his aids.. as she gets bigger they make um pretty cool. his is blue and white swirls and next time is going to be lime green and blue.lol.. his fav. i a have also got him involved with am hearing imapired preschool for 3 years at G.A.Barber Center. my son is not in kindergarden, 1/2 day in regualr class and 1/2 day in hearing impaired.

my myspace is,

My daughter is 8 months old and also born deaf. She received hearing aids when she was 4 months but they do not work for her. We are looking to get a cochlear implant after she turns a year old. It's a long road but you just have to do whats best for your baby. If you need to talk feel free to email me.

I wa 15 years old when i had my oldest son. whenhe was born they told me he was deaf. My son also had amny other health problems I had to with while still being in 9th grade. As time goes onthings will get easier.. Trust me children pick up on sign language so fast it is unbelieveable. the only thing you can do is get an ASL teacher from early intervention, i myself aslo went to the library and tought my self ASL and did and hour ady with my 2 month old baby.lol. sounds funny but... they have amazing schools, i am still invovled with his preschool..did they test your baby's ears? my son was 2 months old when he ot his hearing aids- he has perfoundly deaf in left ear and mild in his right. he is 7 years old and you cant even tell only he is a lil behind in language......... if you ever just need someone my email is.. Sorry so much has happened to you, esp. at such a young age. I know the pain of abruping. My last 2 pregnancies where pretty bad. My daughter who is almost 4 was born at 28 weeks I had my first abruption with her at 11 weeks and spent the rest of the pregnancy pretty much on bedrest and bleeding at least once a week. My last I didn't bleed as much until I hemmoraged and had to deliver her at 26 weeks.
I don't have experience with hearing problems. Early intervention is a great resource. Feel free to write to me at [email protected] Best wishes and I'll be praying for your and your baby.
