I gave birth 3 months ago. I now have bad low back pain and after I sit, I can hardly walk. I did have an epidural and C-section. Could it be a complication? Even though I'm a stay at home mom, exercise is hard to get because the baby is very needy and wants lots of attention. It's very hot outside where I am, so I can't walk her. I'm stealing 5-10 mins on the computer right now. (I suppose I could do some stretches). Any ideas or info?

It isn't uncommon to have a backache from having an epidural but I'm not sure as far as how long. This happened to my friend as well.

I had the same problem. My back killed me in that hard bed in the hospital. I used the high powered breast pump when I was in the hospital and I think that is what got it going. Then, I sat in one spot feeding my new baby and just became stiff. Try to get up and walk around or keep yourself off the couch. I started walking some and occasionally sleeping on our extra bed for relief.

It really shouldn't be because of your epidural, but stranger things have happened.
When you get pregnant all of your tendons & ligaments relax. I'm not sure how long it takes them to go back to normal/prepregnant. What could have or may be happening is with your loosened tendons & ligaments your back my have slipped out of alignment. You may want to see a Chiropractor in your area for an adjustment or talk to your Dr. about it & he could refer you to a physical therapist.

Paula,
Go have it checked out. My back was fine until my second pregnancy. Hurt all the time. Then after it still did not get better. I thought it had something to do with the pregnancy, but a couple of years later I was still in pain, and it turned out to be scoliosis. I had it since I was a young girl, but no one noticed. I had been screened at school and they didn’t see it. There isn’t really anything they can do for it, if not caught when you are young. But someone may know more about this now; this was about 13 years ago. They can operate, but I have spoken to too many people who said the pain was worse later. Maybe someone has a good story. Of course that may be far from what it is for you.

i also had back pains after I gave birth to my now 4 month old son. My pain was like a shooting pain all the way from where the epidural was all the way up my neck! And it like throbbed. let me tell you it really sucked! But it went away at about 3 months. So Im not sure if we are even talking about the same pain. But hey maybe!!
