I wanted to see it so badly yesterday, but we were on the road. Did he offer any insights into the condition?

I didn't see it. Was it about that woman who weighed 88lbs. and died? Or that might have been something else,I don't know!

I cannot stand that man! I watched his show in the very beginning and it grated on my nerves but I gave it another chance a few months later because everyone kept saying how good of a show it was and I turn it on and he's telling a woman that it's her fault that her husband doesn't want to have sex with her because she let herself get overweight and she doesn't dress nicely or wear makeup. That was it for him and me. I just can't stand him!

I watch only those shows that interest me.

I don't care for him much either noahsmom. I mean he is always talking about other people like your example of the overweight woman and he is over weight him self. I know lots of people who do like him though

I found the description, it's about two women who weigh 60 lbs:

NoahsMama, you said you had a training in psychology? Is your training connected to your hating his show? What is he doing wrong, in your eyes, in his practicing? (except for any show's tricks to keep the watcher glued to the screen)

I think what really bothers me about him is his lack of empathy and his inability to see any other possible solution to a problem besides the one he comes up with. Also, it seems to me that he is always on the attack.. if he really is trying to help people as he claims he is he would realize you don't get anywhere by attacking people.

What I don't like about Dr. Phil is that I think he exploits people who are in real need of counseling and medical help.

I agree lucky

I wouldn't say that he's attacking people, but I do agree that sometimes he does shock to elicit an unguarded response.

I think the idea of confession in front of the public is wrong, in the psyhiatry or councelling. People come on his stage in part to have their 15 min of fame. There's something Jerry Springerish in their desire to be on the national TV. In this sense, they exploit Dr. Phil the same way he exploits them.

Also, he doesn't them finish what they are saying most of the time, which is a big no no in the psychology field. You also have to look at it and say how much of this do I believe is real. It's TV... it's for ratings, however if Dr. Phil was any kind of Psychiatrist or Psychologist he wouldn't be on TV trying to "help" people, he'd have an office where he saw people privately.

I used to think that show was okay... kinda insightful, I guess, but just a show.... ever since the child molesting show I think it's gross. I think "Dr." Phil is taking advantage of people by making money off horrible traumatic situations. The little girl they featured on that show needed REAL counseling, and she's going to have to live with that show for the rest of her life. That's just wrong and evil. The way they used special effects, music, and suspense to portray the story of a child that had possibly been abused... like it was "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire".... yuck.

Well, it seems to me that the people who go on there just look like they feel worse when the show is over.

I personally could never go on a television show even if it is Oprah or Dr. Phil, and re-live a horrible experience in front of millions! That is such a private and personal thing.

I dont like him, and that wife of his "Robyn" she should get her own life, instead of sitting in the audience all the god damn time!

It's sad how people pick fun of those that are anorexic, but don't realize it's in their minds.
