I went to a 50th wedding aniversery on Saturday night on a yaght. It was a nice affair, people were dressed semicasual to semidressy. I tried yet again to wear heels, short ones 2 inch maybe . I knew I wouldn't make it through the whole night so I smuggled in my flats in my purse. I changed in about 15 min of arrival just not being able to "stand" it a moment longer. I noticed that probably 75% of all the women there that looked my age were wearing 3-4" heels dancing around in them all night seemingly not in pain and having a great time. How do they do it? Can you? Do you have to wear them around all the time and just get used to it or something? I can hardly walk, my feet feel like they are going to break off, all i can think about is the agony of my feet even if I'm sitting down much less trying to DANCE!!! Can someone please expain to me?

I have a lot of heels and have found when I buy cheap ones they begin to get very uncomfortable in a short amount of time. When I buy more expensive heels they are comfortable and I can wear them all night. When buying shoes you do really get what you pay for so if youre looking for comfort you must spend a fair amount on them.

oh yeah i agree....you definately get what you paid for....

I first got my Dansko shoes for work cause i was on my feet all day long....they are soooo comfortable and i can wear them with just about anything...AND I bought them like 6 years ago and they still look the same as when I bought them...they look brand new and i wear them alll the time....except in the hot summer months and then i wear my birkenstocks... :-)

but still....i tried wearing high heels again....good quality ones and nope...can't do it anymore....lol....

Younno Bmes, I only wear birkenstocks when I wear shoes at all. I have several pairs. And I live in FL so they are always in season!!

But I wonder if my feet have gotten out of shape because they have such good footbed support my feet don't have to work as hard or something??? Their is no support at all in most heels. Guess I will have to start wearing heels around the house to exercise my feet. LOL My husband will like it anyway!! HAHAHAHA

Yes ma'am..... Wearing high heels is learned, not genetic.. It takes alot of practice. When I know that I have a "Big Affair" coming. such as a Mardi Gras Ball or a dinner on a yatch...... I prance around the house for several days (4 or 5) in those very shoes that I am going to wear. I wear them a couple of times a day for 15 minutes here or there... so that by the day before I can stand to wear them for 3 or 4 hours..... AND Go out in the drive way and scuff up the bottoms so that they aren't so slippery.. I absolutely LOVE to wear heels!!!!

Carrying shoes in your handbag is very tacky... No offense, just my opinion...

So.....I probably shouldn't have loaded up the heels in my purse with free shrimp, bread sticks and cheese then? Hmm...something to think about.

As long as you put the shrimp in there WITHOUT the cocktail sauce... LOLOL!!

They say it takes a person about 5 times before the can wear in a pair of shoes...and for woman who want to wear heels..it will take 5 times before they actually feel comfortable..so most of the time..we wear them once they hurt and throw them in the back of the closet..but actually..if we wore them more they would fit to our body..and start to feel comfortable in the,..

so bebe's way does make sense..

i usually stick to my kitten heels..which are low..and aref ine on mee since i am 5'9 anyway..but i do have some higherone that i would love to wear..have been thinking of just doing some short trips to the store to get aclimated to them..

Well I got curious and did a little research....it seems that heels were invented by men. For riding to keep their foot firmly on the stirrupin around 1500. The French men caught on to this trend and started wearing higher and higher heels until they were not suitable for riding anymore and they only wore them to court (thus court shoes). Then some short "lady" decided she wanted to wear them too and had a pair made and the rest is history I guess....Men only wore heels for around 100 years before they decided to hand the damnable things to us....figures!!!

my husband LOVES when I wear heals. So once in awhile I will wear them around the house, those days I find alot of things to do sitting down!
I bought a awesome pair of heels for his christmas party last year. They were HIGH, well I had them on for the party and when we all went to the bar afterwards, I slipped on a pair of lower heels for the rest of the night. I try , but just can't do it!

I now have bunions = deformed feet) due to wearing high heels all the time, I actually have to start wearing more flats or wedges to prevent them from getting any worse. My rite foot is worse than my left the bones to my toes are shifted enough causing a lot of pain at times.

i love watching woman in high heels !!There is nothing sexier than a woman who can walk in 2-4" heels espically if they in stockings or pantyhose..so the pain and suffering is appericated !!

Living the stay-at-home life I do not have many opportunties to dress up, thus when I get a chance no amount of pain is going to ruin me looking sexy! Of course my husband appreciates it when I step outside the usual jeans and shirt, I try to wear heels if I think about it. I love heels, the taller the better. At 5'7" nothing makes me happier than towering over others especially if my hair is cooperating and I look nice! Vanity, vanity, all is vanity. I just noticed this forum is almost a year old. Oh well
