Hay girls just so you know....if something in your house is broken....toys...vcrs......c
omputers....washers.....well
you name it chances are I can help you out.....at least point you in the right direction. I have so wierd ability to fix almost anything....I have yes, even fixed my husbands truck a few times......so ask away. If its out of my league I will let you know. But we can give it a go...if ya like.

Most stuff girls once you start looking you realize it is so simple. But so many men and women are even afraid to look. I used to be scared to death of computers ...well doing something wrong. Then one day I got mad enough...and figured how bad could it be? If it looks to scarry I'll just put the cover back on. I open.......my mouth fell open...."thats it" "this is the big mystery....oh brother " Since then I have fix my computer oh tons of times....ya know kids....and built three. I started to learn about them five years ago and so you can see it really turns out to be no real big deal and when I dont know something I go to the "suggestafix" website. Those guys are outstanding...and can answer any computer question and help you out. They are outstanding. They have told me to down load things and yup I was scared at first........but no problems at all and what they suggest is worth its weight in gold. Opposed to ya know 45-90 bucks an hour computer fix it guy shop.

My husband and I actually went out to purchase a new washer because neither one of us at the time wanted to deal with actually trying to figure out what the problem was. And I didn't want to call a repair person to come in because everyone knows they charge you just for them showing up. I still have the washer but it doesn't actually work. I decided to keep it thinking that maybe someday I would get around to figure out was wrong so as of right now it is sitting in our basement being used as a shelve.

My husband had been doing the laundry on the day that the washer went. I went to the kitchen and thought that the washer sounded funny so I went into the basement to check. At first I thought that maybe my husband had put to many towels into the washer causing the Aggitator (I know that this is not the correct spelling) not to be able to move. So I removed some of the towel but no luck. You actually can't even turn it by hand. So I am thinking that it's a belt or that something is stuck. Any ideas

Yup ok ....does the timer work first question? In otherwords when you set it to start will it fill automaticly...or nothing happens? Test around the dial in the various cycles...if it ticks or moves the timer is working....if not that would be the reason nothing is happening. So start there.

If the timer is working ok.......fills....empties...but no spin....take the cover off the back of the machine. Unplug first!!!!! Safety first always. That adjitator has a stem....be logical it has to be around the middle of the machine one the inside too. Now look if its a belt you will see its broken....or is very loose just worn. If its a metal part that has slipped off that makes it go back and forth you will see that too. Also.....depending on the make it could be a small motor that drives the belt or the metal part. Follow the belt and or the metal part to see if it goes round something that might look like a small motor. Usually they are just a part with a metal housing and a couple of wires that go from that, back to the timer. Maybe three of four wires.....but the important thing is ...is the belt or the metal part attached to it or around it? Maybe a wire is loose...or the motor for that part needs replacing.

Go and look when you can an tell me what you see. Dont be afraid to call the maker....or go to their website and ask a tech. Let them know you have been looking and this is what you find. If some guy on the other end of the phone sounds like......."oh dont know, you would have to bring it in"...crap....call someone else there are tons in the book and you will likely strike someone who will be willing to assist . Between all of us I bet you get to the bottom of it and learn a ton along the way.

Keep me posted.......REMEMBER HONEY......SAFETY FIRST ALWAYS....UNPLUG.

Oh and ps.....dont worry if at any time with any thing if you get a wire crossed. I mean....you hook the positive to the negitive instead of the other way around.......nothing is going to happen....it just wont work. So change it, to start the process of elimination. Unplug first ....change....plug in and test.

Sorry I know none of you are idiots.....I just want people to be safe.

Alrightie....too that possible motor driving the belt....it would have a pully like end on it to spin the belt if it has one.

Hi Charla....ok hon....two things it could be.....one you pump is just not working....that can happen over time they just wear out. Two......under that button is what is know as a relay switch or points.....these points sometimes just burn out.

Is there on that hot tub a way to get into that button area? Are their screws present and some kind of cover there....if so Unplug that puppy first!!!!! Turn the breaker off. Take the panel off. If the buttons are like on an older model washer/dryer or you stove....sometimes you have to remove the knobs first....then the panel. Once you get that far....you will figure out how to get the points out....located right under the knob...they might look like something in a kids toy....all they do is make contact when the button is pushed. Springie like. You push they contact let go and they are apart. If you remove them you hold them to the light if necessary and have a peek. If you see black where it would touch together....they are burnt out. Just replace that part.

Now as for the pump.....is there a filter system...? Is it built into the pump? If so make sure it is clean and free of any debries. Either way.....someone has got to get that enclosed area open so you can see the pump. Turn on the hot tub and see if you even hear it working. If it sounds terrible rough like an old car just getting by with a lot of choking and girgleing sounds....it might not be operating effiecently. Therefore just not doing the job at all. Or very poorly at best. If its running, one of you put your hand to an water outlet in the tub.......if the water is flowing through....it works...and you are back to the points. If nothing is happening....if its making a horrible sound.....or buzzing ...if anything, then the pump could well be gone. Has to be one or the other.

Unpluged of course and breaker off check the wireing to and from......the button area. To likely a electronic board....just to be sure the connections are still all good........most likely they are just fine....but check to be certain.

Your hubby might know.....I dont think this is the trouble but could be one more possibility.......does that pump require primeing? If for any reason you can recall it was disconnected......sometimes...depending on the system....it has to be primed. The water pressure has to build up enough to get the flow on the go LOL! Just another thing to check.

Remember cover for button comming off.....UNPLUG TURN THE BREAKER OFF TOO]]]VERY IMPORTANT hon! Let me know how it goes.

Ya companies will often send you say an adapter...or part or whatever is missing if you write them. Take the make model and to the website and write the customer service department or tech....and ask kindly ...."My hot tub is not working and we found the points for the jets are burnt out could you please assist by pointing me to my nearest dealer or may I order them from you? We so enjoy this hot tub and miss the relaxing jets at the end of our nasty long days Thanks in advance." Chances are Charla they will send you the part for free so many companies are very good this way. I have have adapters.....and parts of near every discription....even for my Kohler potty. LOLOL!!!!

Anyway let me know hon.

Another way to explain primeing is.....ya need to ensure that there is water in the line.....and the pump.....cuz see if there is air trapped somewhere the pressure is not going to happen....just an add explaination. Just girrrrrrrgiles and chokes ...works but doesnt all at the same time. Pumps should...NEVER BE RUN DRY. They must have sufficent flow in order to preform.

Charla how wonderful. So glad it wasnt the pump....expensive they are! Must have been clogged good! Just like your dryer ...well sort of. If the pipe from the dryer to the lint pipe/flex pipe....has major build up....drying time is near endless. Also can cause a fire....so freeing up the line or in your case the filter is the best news....since it wasnt a huge replacement or repair issue. The points wouldnt have been much...but a pump?! Nasty!

Sorry Charla.....is it you who has the hubby deployed? I know one or two of the girls here have mentioned that...just cant recall who. Point is, I am really happy your neighbour helped you out. ENJOY!
