My fishtank includes 5 goldfish, an oscar, 2 chiclids, 3 puffers, and a catfish...

now tonight my oscars and chiclids are attacking the goldfish..they have lived in the tank for over a month now fine, but i guess they decided tonight to eat them...I knew buying the 3 aggresive fish that they would do this...but now that my goldfish are getting biggger..i have a soft spot in my heart for them...i know a sap am i..but the poor guys...i guess i thought in the beginning i would be okay, but now a month goes buy and i am kinda sad...So do i let them suffer in a reserve tank with there fins all chopped off..or just let the big fish have at them...they are going after 1 only right now..ahh so sad :(

Yeah, this is what happens. Life is tough in the world of fish..........

If you want to kill them humanely, then add some Clove Oil to about 2 pints of water - add a good slug of the oil. Swirl it around with a spoon - the water will go slightly white. Add the fish that you need to kill. The clove oil acts as a general anaesthetic and the fish will quickly go to sleep. Then, you add some some neat alcohol - I usually use Vodka - this will kill the fish. Leave them in the solution for at least half an hour then you can dispose of them.

It's the most humane way to kill a fish. Never flush them down the toilet or put them in the freezer - this is cruel.

ahh i wish i had clove oil, but it is 1 in the morning...we put them in a reserve tank for now..which they will preobably die from stress by the morning..which sucks...but i think them being in the tank they will die from stress or being attacked...Either way its a no win situation...Thanks for the info though...
