Sorry don't have kids in school yet, but I would say the sooner the better.

Hi angela...no doubt you have told her how her bottom can become so very sore...and all the rest of the good news. Its a risk and one at some point you might take. You have to watch like a hawk (checking that is her bottom) but when it becomes red and it will in no time flat if your not doing it for her....you once again explain if she doesnt like this then she must start to wipe. Mommy will not be at school to help and she must learn and practice at home with mom there so she is ready on her own at school. Otherwise her bottom could really become even more sore and she could get nasty things from the potty at school. Yes a scare method...my daughter was similar. I finally had to resort to letting it be..........watching like a hawk so NO she wouldnt become raw....or even worse...but with her at least....a day or two here and there got the message through. She did not like the hurting bottom. Not something everyone would do....and many wouldnt recomend I imagine.....but I was desperate for her to get the big picture before school.....she did.

Do whats right for you and her though......just a thought. And I truly hope there is better coming. Thoughts and solutions. We didnt have the internet then and we were really on our own. So I did the only thing left for me to do. Let her see what I was talking about. I will use whatever it takes when I am desperate enough and out of other soulutions and options.........just to get the message through.

Take care hon.....

My son is 7 and he sometimes has difficulty wiping. I buy him the kids moistened botty wipes and he manages with those.

When my son was 5, he did the same thing, now going through it with my 3 year old. I agree that the flushable moistened wipes did help my son. Problem is they don't have these at school. My suggestion is to really start working hard with her through the summer. Refuse to wipe for her, but make sure it gets done. Show her the proper way each time you notice her not doing it right. And buy the wipes for her and make them seem especially for her to use, gradually change to toliet paper. This is what I did and he was ready for school. I have now started with my 3 year old, no sucess yet, we will see.
