i just came back from Alberta.....ya know what a 7-11 worker bee makes there.......14.oo an hour!!!!!!!!! YES!!!! Adverts in the paper FULL of things like that. 700.00 bonus JUSt to go to work for a company....cant recall who that was for mom told me. 38.10 per hour for a Canadian Tire guy in the shop??!!!!! The wages there have gone through the roof. Housing......wild. Cant find workers to fix the road for the City of Edmonton......NOT ONE BID.....cuz they got jobs lined up back to back. They were forced to hire YEAR round workers......in order to have anyone do the "seasonal" .........totally nuts there. But its gonna crash just like it did before.....when who knows....but by gum when it does......YIKES........woops!

I believe waitresses should earn minimum wage PLUS any tips. and also I think the tips should be theirs to keep without having to claim on taxes or anything.

Here minimum wage is $8.00, but only students get that. If you are a competant worker, you get about $11-$12 (fast food, retail etc.)
Office jobs are arounnd $14.00
Construction is around $16-$18
Waitress around $11 plus tips

the cost of living here cost way more than what people make. my hubby was reading an mls and they said that if someone were to own a home in today's market, you'd need a household income of AT LEAST $120,000/year....that's like BOTH people working FULL TIME, and IF they find a good paying job....luckily my hubby started his job over ten years ago and it's making almost $30.00/hour, and we bought our place before the market sky rocketed!! if you're a young couple just starting out...GOOD LUCK!!! there's no way...unless they bust their asses wokring and not enjoying life!!! OR of they move up north and work in camps and stuff...

That's what my husband is doing bmes. He is up north in a camp 20 days on and 8 days off. The money is awesome though. He starts again in September... it has given us a great start and we will be able to afford to put a large down payment on a house in BC again, plus what we have made off of the one we will sell here. We are looking in PG and everything is still soo cheap there.

yeah....the money is great, but I don't think i'd be able to handle my husband gone for that long no matter how much money he could make up there. a friend of ours goes to northern alberta every fall/winter, and then works here for the summer....while the whole time his wife is somewhere else....nope!!! not for me. couldn't do it.

wow thats pathetic...

Depends on your age, and what certificates you have, i will go by my age and what i would recieve if i was in those feilds

Office Worker, $15-25 per hour
Fast Food - $18.00 a hour
Construtcion ( if i had all the tickets etc ) $30+ a hour
Nurses , Depends on what shift you do night/day - $25+
Waitress $18.00 a hour ( we dont work via tips )

The older you are, the more your pay increases each year, until you are 21 i think. If you have certs, that increases your pay. Etc.

And before everyone goes OMFG you all must be rich in australia...well everything over here is double the price in america/canada

Rent that i saw in america was like $400 a month aprox

Rent here in aussie STARTS! at $210 a week for a small 2 bedroom home, so thats $840 a month

If you go to macdonlds, you pay $9.00 for a meal combo

Smokes are like $70 for 5 packets

Beer is $30-$40 a cartoon

You get the drift.

sarah your rent isnt bad..it depends where you live..Where i live my rent is 740 for a month for a 2 bedroom house..and thats fairly cheap..but yeah your other costs are ridculous..

i can take my family out to Mcdonalds for $12.00..Beer is about 18.00 for a case..and smokes are 50.00 for a carton of 10.00..

i always wondered why aussies dont tip..no offense but they come here and have a huge bill and dont tip..and then i ended up paying..because we have to pay for taxes for tips..so if someone doesnt tip you..you lost money

rents here are like 1000 euro a month, case of beer 30-40 euro cigs nearly 9 euro a pack min wage is 8.24 and that covers a lot of jobs unless you have a real good trade, we contemplated moving to australia for a while but we are probably better off here as ludicrus as it sounds!!!
