"Hello!!!" Sorry i buggered off in a flash without a word in here........or anywhere for that matter. I just got up one day and thought, Ok, thats it.......were going to Alberta. So...i got the house in order (ya know how ya hate to come home to a mess?? so i made sure that wouldnt be the case.) Told the kids to gather the things they would take on a vacation....etc., told them within the next few days we would be going but which day.........its a secret. :) I woke them up one morning........at ooooooooh about 5:30 I was totally packed up and ready to grab the keys.......and go. So...in their jammies we went.....and i did 14 hours of driving through the Rockey Mountains to Alberta. It was............absolutly PERFECT weather day to do it. I had sort of forgotten ya know, just how.........jaw drop, wide eyed........amazing they truly are. I have always taken them on the airlines........but this time....i wanted to show them THIS!!!!!!!!!
And can i tell you.......on both trips....there and back.....for 14 hours of driving......those two kids.....were.......steller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would I have thought???? ummm noooooo, but i could NOT believe JUST how GOOD they WERE. Was like having children around you didnt know........lololololol.
All in all, the trip was sooooooooo good you guys. I got that chance to see my father........i did what i knew i must...(without delay) saw the rest of my family........and just had a really, really.. good time.

yeah ya know....it was just really the thing to do.....for so many good reasons. I completly enjoyed it myself......I love to drive like that. First off.......AWESOME!!! So glad you could do that! Oh yes, sometimes we just know what MUST be done, and just go!!!!
Second , oh you brave woman.......I would have been terrified! My hands would have been gripping the steering wheel so hard, they would ache.....lol.l.......Oh I do NOT like driving through the mountains even as a passenger, and have never done it as driver....lol......oh maybe one day:)

HELLO WINN!!!!!!!!!!! lol.....yeah brave or ....stupid lolol. I have no fear ya know winn, i just take my time.....in NO rush at all......and just totally take it all in. You tell your hubby ......that those truckers are just................a love. I just scooched along the way with them......yes, just sort of cozyed up to the security of their experience......and i tell you.......though no way to know for certain......its like they just cradled us.....all the way there....and back. They did the limit.....and curtious......and it was the OTHER idiots.......in CARS......that were the concern.......NOT the truckers.....in one case........its my HONEST opinion......he did this driver a favor. Likely saved his LIFE. The guy came from behind me......and just as he did.......(on a turn in the road) I see..........someone coming. I hit the brakes......pulled over as much as possible......All in the effort to afford this driver the ability to move in front of me and give him all the space i could provide........(the distance between myself and the truck was very very fair......i do NOT talegate.....only IDIOTS do that) but the point was.........it was a head on.........about to occure...WITHOUT question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND in the process.....would have involved us. So......i was looking ahead for our "path" in the ditch.......if we HAD to.......but at the same time.........let that driver HAVE all the room he/she needed to scooch IN!!!!!!!! WELL, he/she did.........so fast......that they nearly sent themselves......OFF in the OTHER direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, the trucker i had been following for oh my gosh i dont know HOW long..........to me.....HAD to have caught this in his side mirror. Why,,,,,,,,,,,,,cuz after that........throughout the "follow" by me......the trucker was ya know.......perfectly between the double lines........and the sholder. After that.........he hugged the double line as much as possible.........in other words......that stupid driver behind.........wasnt gonna get round!! He (the trucker) did this right up untill he couldnt any longer and the road opened to a double lane. After that........back to perfcetly in line on the highway. ?????????? to me.........he saw the same thing i did........and just thought........your not going anywhere.....your gonna kill someone??!!!!!!!! So........to me........he kept him/her back.....preventing them for any visual they needed to pull out and do the same stupid thing all over again. No........winn......wasnt the truckers that concerned me.....its the fools in the sports cars ya know??!
YES YES YES.......i am so ready for the kids to go back to school. Order in the house again huh? Schedualed (more or less) hours in our day huh? Noah is just litterally chomping at the bit........he is SOOOOOOO ready. Olivia is missing her friends......(though we have indeed made time for them this summer) and her friends miss school too!!!! We are soooo lucky huh....we have just a beautiful little school.......and the kids all get along so well......the "miss" it. So yes.....were READY!!!!!!!! ↑ |

My car died in Banff last summer bmes LOL
I had to put it in neutral and roll into the gas station. I had no brakes and very little steering. That was fun : )

hey bmes.......no hon....i took the Jasper route. It was.....to the minute........14 hours.......door to door. I left my moms.....at six in the morning on the nose. I pulled into our drive......at 7. NOW dont forget gals.........we have a time change of one hours....so unless i am delerious....(that could be after that drive lol) its 14 hours. 6 am........alberta time depart......arrive 7pm BC time.??? 14.......correct? WITH the hour change.
I do want to do the Banff route another summer.......longer yes.....but worth it. Jasper is amazing....but so is Banff and Lake Lousie!!!!!! Next time Bmes lol..... ↑ |

If I HAD to do that drive...lol......I would do the exact same thing! I would snuggle in and follow the truck drivers........most of there trucks are speed regulated, and most have computers in them now, the track speed, idling, distance, etc....for online logging, making it VERY SAFE! Buta lot harder for long haul truckers to make money....but certainly safe! Yep.......That is EXACLLY what I would do!
Oh yes...my little guy "my baby" our last is starting kindergarden......and yes I am looking forward to it too, but also a little heart broken as well, we talk on and off about maybe another baby????? But thats a whole other topic...lol.....
Oh it has been a wonderful summer......kids coming and going....swimming, beautiful B.C beaches, sleep overs......I LOVE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!
Well I guess with our youngest ones starting in school, wondering if maybe we will have some time to hook up a little more often? Maybe not though, because , here at least, school is only just over 2 hours.......does not leave much time.........ahhhhhh, but once grade 1 starts.........lots of time! ↑ |

yeah winn......me too. Just two hours a day well, 2.5 but....still ya know....that makes it difficult. One more year girl.....and we can do just that. Looking forward to it too........
I did not know this about the trucks these days....wow!!!!!! What else...should have known i suppose. Amazing really. Yup....it was the smartest move i made out there. We all gave each other the room and space needed......each curtious to the other.....and they made mighty fine.....traveling companions....we sort of might lose each other....at some point ya know....i would be able to go faster than them.....and had to BUT......they would catch up....and so it was a interlock sort of system all the way along......and some.....all the way there and home. you wouldnt see them (cuz i had to gear up and go round and they just couldnt due to the weight)but ya know........they gave me all the room they could possibly afford me to do it. Then later........sure enough.......there they were again lol!!!!!! I figured........these guys do this for a "living" this is their bread and butter.......and they just have got to have seen almost everything there is to see out there........good and bad.....so EXPERIENCE.......spoke volumes to me. I had ZERO worries of THEM.
