not too mention it's so hot here lately and i really hate heating up the kitchen every day. it gets so miserable! so just heating things would make a huge difference!

Lasagne....i make big batches and then freeze in big trays...defrost completely place in oven to slowly warm through while you are waiting for the lasagne to heat make the bechamel sauce fresh...pour over warmed lasagne....sprinkly with cheese and wait for cheese to melt and brown...wallah...yummy :-)))

I won't laugh H : )) I didn't know how to make it either until we started making a pre-game dinner for my son's football team...

Cook ziti pasta
add spaghetti sauce
salt, garlic, oregano
mix in ricotta and grated mozzarella cheese (you can use cottage cheese instead of ricotta...much cheaper and they can't tell the difference hehehe)

Throw in 375* oven for 1/2 hour...more mozzarella on top...back in until cheese melts...done!

I go by 1 lb. pasta...1lb. ricotta...1lb. mozzarella...1 jar sauce

bechamel sauce is a white butter sauce :-)
melt butter in pan ...add flour and mix until bubbling ...add milk and mix until thickened...i add cheese in the sauce to sometimes when i put too much milk in ...thickens it more...LOL

My Bolognese sauce is made thus:

I heat a little olive oil and chop some garlic into small bits.
Gently fry the garlic bits, but not so they go brown or they become bitter.
Add some diced onion.
Add some minced beef and brown through.
Add chopped up mushrooms.
Fry these all together then add a tin of chopped tomatoes.
Sprinkle in some Italian Herbs - comes in a little jar.
Add boiling water and allow to simmer for about three hours.

Towards then end add some Tomato Puree and some fresh basil - just tear the leaves up.

Marija, that white sauce almost sounds like what we call Roux. But over here that is just the base, and you have to add on to it. Do you ever add anything other than cheese?

we use those big bags of frozen chicken breast a lot and also bags of frozen stir fry vegetables.

i usually cook the entire bag of chicken, put then in the fridge and then i can either cut them up and toss them in w/ the stir fry vegetables or add it to salad (i take that to work a lot)

Name: Nicolaaa | Date: May 19th, 2007 2:19 PM
mmm stir fry/fries are good

is the plural of stir fry, stir fries?

Ill freeze pretty much anything, all meat. I even cut up enough onion for the week and throw it in the refriderator, or i guess you could do that in the freezer too.
