I have three children, ages thirteen, fifteen, and 3. I want to go on a vacation that will be fun and enjoyable for all of us. We love the outdoors and think exploring is great. ↓

WHy not cmaping in a natioanl park? you're outdfoors, can go hiking and exploring in the forest, away from everyone, realtivly inexpensive plan. they older kids can go wandering off if they want so you don't have to worry about them all the time. ↑ |

Not sure where your from, but Northern MN, is wonderful. The Headwaters of the Mississippi is a State Park with tons of options for all ages. Biking, hiking, boating, and camping.
The Twin Cities is also a great place to visit. The Mall of America has lots of options for all ages, also the Great Lodge, its across the stree from the Mall of America and has the largest indoor water park in America. If that doesn't please all ages! (I've been there, its great) There are also 2 great zoo's, science musumes, and Valley Fair, Lots of rides with a water park for the whole family. One last place in interest, is the North Shore. Starting in Duluth and heading North, its beautiful and amazing, lots to explore and fun for all ages. Hope this might help. ↑ |
This may seem a little silly, but if you ask my 12 year old where he wants to go on vacation, he picks our local KOA campground! (We have traveled up and down the east coast, Tennesse, Kentucky, Ohio and many other states and stayed in many towns and cities. He has been to Disney World 6 times, Sea World, amusement parks, etc.) He loves our local KOA for the following reasons: swim all day in an uncrowded pool, fish in the pond, play video games (we set the $ amount before we arrive), ride his bike, hike in the woods, campfires, and the free movies at night. Most KOA's also have basketball courts, playgrounds, and some offer boating, canoeing, horseback riding, etc. We own an RV so we use that, but you can also stay in a cabin or if your family really enjoys nature, you can tent. I always think of a vacation as going somewhere that involves traveling. To a 12 year old (not to mention a 3 year old) 15 miles from the house is great - No long car ride. One added bonus for our family, we can take our dogs with us and not worry about finding someone to watch them (kennels are out of the question as our lovely St. Bernard/Akita mix has destroyed many a pen/cage at various boarding facilities. Nothing like being just hours from home and getting the phone call to come pick up your monster because their equipment can not seem to contain him!!! ↑ |
A campground near an amusement park......with water rides/pool area/.....on an all day or week pass. There are also rides for small children.....get tired....campground is near by. ↑ |
I think that maybe you should try going to Yosemite on a hiking trip or somewhere fun in your vision and the rest of your family I am more of a relaxing person so I don't know much about this either but that is just an idea! If you like relaxing maybe you can try somewhere where it is not always crowded! ↑ |
