I took a positive home pregnancy test one week b/f I started a new job. A doctor confirmed my pregnancy two weeks into my new job, which is a temp to hire position through a temporary agency. With my husband being laid off three days ago, I am terrified to tell my employer about my pregnancy. But I will take the next two weeks to prove myself and plan on telling them as the guilt is eating me up. Good luck to all of you in these difficult positions. It is helpful to know there are others like me out there.

I am five months pregnant and it seems very hard to find a job, even thou I didn't tell and one that interviewed me I just went on with the flow. I feel like I can't keep hiding it I will tell them once I am hired but I really do need the money so anything can happen

This is such a sad fact that we as women fear losing our jobs just because of pregnancy. This shouldn't be the case. As much as I understand needing a job for the money, if a company will actually fire you because you are pregnant (or some other cover-up reason), how will they be when you have issues as a new mother (breast pumping, sick children, scheduling etc.). This is the type of thing that makes me want to move to Europe. But I am also starting a job and planning to become pregnant about 3-6 months later. I think that if that affects my standing at the company, then I won't want to continue working there. We'll see.

Hi, I just started a new job and am 19 weeks. Believe me it is very daunting. I also did not mention this to my employee who, at the time was very reluctant to hire me. It took a lot of convincing to hire me. And now I have to spring on them the factthat I will be taking some serious leave. I informed my employer the second day I started work. They havent respoinded tome yet. I still feel like a sod. It makes this pregnacy guilt-ridden. But just remember you must come clean!!

I think it is wrong to mislead your new job. They should still hire you if you are pregnant, but they need to know so they can plan for the time you will be on maternity leave. I work in a place where someone being gone just two weeks puts alot of stress on the other employees.

I started working with a company then I got pregnant. I started as a temp, and when it was time for them to take me on full time, I pulled my supervisor in the back and explained to her what was going on. She was very understanding about it. I worked there for about another 2 months, then the company cut back on my position through-out the company and I was out of a job at 5 months pregnant. I was showing and figured that there was no one out there that was going to hire me knowing that I was going to go out soon. To have the baby. So I decided to work from home! I love it. If you too want to work from home with a legitimate company that has an excellent rating with the BBB, look at www.workathomeunited.com/jmcginniss
and submit your information and I will contact you shortly!

I am also starting a new job on Monday and am 5 weeks pregnant. I did not know that I was pregnant when I interviewed or got hired. I am so stressed out about that to do. Should I say something right away or should I wait about a month or so. As it is, I am going to have to mention that I need to leave early one day in about a month because I have an OB/GYN appt. that couldn't be scheduled after work hours. Am I wrong to wait it out or should I say something on Monday??

Ok, so I am 7 weeks pregnant and have been offered a new job (going from one company to another) and I have to let them know if I will be taking the position tomorrow. It is an 18% increase in my salary and I really want to work for this company. Not sure if I will tell them up front because I dont want to start a new position with a lie above my head (and I am so happy to be pregnant, I dont want any negetivity around my pregnancy). Some people say to hide it, so say to tell. I currently have a full time position so I dont NEED to leave my job but want to. I will post again tomorrow to let you all know how it goes - wish me luck!

hello
I told my manager yesterday, he was omg, he did not belive i was pregnant, cause i was not married yet, I do not know, I felt guilty, problem I told him i was not sure to marry, but his reaction was ohhhhhhh noooooooooo how can you do that, but other manager said to me congratulations and stuff like that, the first manager was not happy, i do not know, what to do. i am very scared i hope i keep my job. what do you think i should say to my first manager, shall i send him email assure him that I will do my work as best as I can, and do you know girls how long is maternity leave in uk, because this my first time, how long does the company pay for me full pay etc. I am thinking to email my manager and tell him even during my meternity i can be approached by email or even i come visit sometimes. they can call me etc. i have confused feelings, i am 18 weeks by the way, any advice girls. thanks.

im almost two months pregnant and i start a new job as a nurse tech in the IICU at my local hospital. My worry is that there will be no way to hold my job if I have to leave at 7 or 8 months because of the nature of my job. It's really different for mothers to be ( congratulations by the way:) ) who work behind a desk and for those of us who actually have to take care of people for a living. Does anyone know of any laws or ways to get an employer to consider holding your position for 2 to 3 months? Please help! My fiance and I both work and need the money. I was so blessed to get this job in this economy and really don't want or need to lose it. I would greatly appreciate any response. Thanks

It is illegal for an employer to ask an applicant anything to do with pregnancy or the potential of pregnancy. It is not a legal factor in deciding your employment eligibility, so why would you volunteer that information prior to being hired? Same goes for any physical disability. I understand the feelings of guilt, I' just got hired at 5 months pregnant, and feel uncomfortable about it, but the law is on my side here and it really wan't relevant to my qualifications as an employee.
I wish everyone out there in our situation luck, and confidence! This is no longer a man's world!
