Today I am going to get checked out by a doctor for postpartum depression. My daughter is 4 months old and everynight after I get off work I become annoyed for some reason. I have feelings of rage about everything and then I burst into tears and I hate myself at these times because I cant seem to keep it together. I am totally ashamed of the way I act and feel and dont really know what else to do. Does this sound like postpartum depression or could it be something else? I go to the gym like 3 times a week hoping to lift my spirits but it doesnt work...I feel so down in the dumps a lot. It came on all of the sudden like 3 weeks ago and hasnt left since. I need help!

yep I have post partum depression and he told me that taking zoloft and regular exercise (which I already do) shoudl boost my spirits...the medication is good so far but we will see....it feels better now that people know there is something wrong with me. I use to just mask my depression with laughter and smiles but I gave up! I just couldnt do it anymore...feeling inadequate because I was so down in the dumps...things are better now.

angel of mine 2006 I am glad you are better!! It takes time. Try and find a waking \ work partner...That helps too. Just being out side and looking at a beautiful view can do wonders.
God bless

I feel for you girl. Having a baby takes a toll on a woman. It messes with your hormones which mess with your emotions. It's a natural thing. I too had those feeling. You will be okay. Women are sensitive by nature. You have just had a baby. Your body and mind are trying to restore itself. You may even be feeling over emotional because your tired. You may not realize it but your body might be tired. You should go to the gym 2 times a week then on the other day spend it just relaxing. Go to a park and sleep or read.
Its natural to feel what you are feeling. I went through it as well as millions of other women. Unlike others though you were able to put your feeling into words which will help others get through their depression by reading about yours. Listen to the doctor and get some rest. Good luck.

to Drea yes it would be nice to be able to take a nap but unfortunately hubbys hours conflict with mine. I work 7:30-5 m-f and he works from 2:00-11 or 12 at night. So much for a nap! haha but I feel good NOW when I go to the gym since being on anti depressants things have really started to look up! Thank you all for your concern!
