I am a Home Health nurse which is great because unlike the hospital, I don't have to work weekends!( the RNs do take turns with weekends, but I am a CNA and we only work if we are VERY overloaded) I am home to get the kids off to school then go to work and am home when they get home....it's great! I do my classes online right now and only have to go to the college to take the tests and do labs. But by next fall I will be going full time so I may be quitting my job:( I do love it, but it's not a forever job for me. I have been CNA for 8 years and have workeddoing many things, but this position I have now is the best for my family:)

My two kids are 4 and 6 and one on the way. My son goes to preschool MWF and my daughter is in half day kindergarten. I am 13 weeks prego....

As far as getting some time off on the weekends, I haven't had any trouble. I can ask off 2 weekend days a quarter which comes out to 4 weekends off a year. I do have to put in my request ahead of time or if something comes up I see if anyone can switch a week day for a weekend day. Of course, I never have any trouble with call-ins because I rarely have to miss any days........I can see this position working well until my kids have weekend activities I want to attend.

i work prn so right now i am able to do like 9am-1pm if census is high...we have an inpatient and outpatient side and usually if i do 4hrs i work outpatient. i have 4 kids...3 boys ages 9, 6, almost 4. and a daughter who is 9 months. i cut way back after she was born and the reason i do 4 hrs is cuz she was nursing a lot and not taking a bottle. at least now i nurse her only like 3 times a day and i suppose i could work longer hours but i just don't want to yet!! i don't want to leave my baby! She's our last baby so i want to keep her that way as long as possible! LOL

koz....I don't blame you for wanting to stay home with your young one. With both of my kids, I dropped by my hours....it was just so hard to go back. My goal for this pregnancy is to avoid using any FMLA so I can have a complete 12 weeks off with the baby.

koz....Due date is June 15. I guess by now I am 16 wks. Lots of nausea/vomiting (same problem with my other pregnancies). Continue to take Zofran to curb the nausea. Last weekend had to go home because of cramping. Concerned but no bleeding and still have heart rate. See my dr. on Tues. I'm afraid I havent gained any weight. Have lost 25# so far. Sorry about divulging all of my issues. It's nice to be able to talk to someone about it though.......

Take it easy and get some rest( I know it's impossible) you probably aren't eating thats why your losing weight...i was hospitilized during my second pg with severe dehydration..i couldn't keep anything down and there was lots of ketones in my urine. just try some fluids at least..have you tried those preggo pops?

Name: koz | Date: Dec 30th, 2006 1:40 AM

koz.....First off....I made it through an entire weekend of work....I feel invigorated as if I accomplished some goal...About the eating thing, I tell everyone that I have "issues" with food. It's a constant struggle to come up with ideas for lunch and dinner. I am in a constant state of nausea. I haven't tried the prego pops...where do u get them? Saw dr. today, lost 2#. I forgot to mention that my TSH is extremely low....i am seeing an endocrine dr.....do u know much about it?.....I may seem like a mess, but I consider myself pretty healthy..... Enough about me....How is work?
