I work at a great institution of higher ed. I really like my boss, and we get along great. For the last 6 months or so, my boss, the president, HR, has been made aware that i am interested in a more advanced position. I have received positive feedback about this. Only recently a job has come up (after my friend resigned from it) that would be a definite promotion and a substantial raise. I just finished my 1st trimester, and have not disclosed my pregnancy yet, partly because i do not know what to do. It is clear that i need to work (if only for health insurance and day care). The problem with the potential job is that it is potentially very stressful and frustrating. i have shared my concerns about the job with HR, so at least we are on the same page. the issue is the person i would be reporting to... a great person, but terrible manager. so, do i stay put in my ho-hum job, or push for the "better" job knowing it may stink but the pay is much better?
really do not know what to do....
any advice is appreciated.

There are lots of ways to make jobs less stressful and frustrating so once you get there, that part may be ok. It sounds it may be a good move especially since you've been asking for one. The question I would ask is what are the expected time contributions with the new job. Once your baby arrives, you will not want to work long hours/weekends. Every new job I get in, I tell my peers and manager that I work very hard and efficient but family comes first and I get "Madeline-itis and Dylan-itis" around 5:00!!!
