People are always pointing fingers and blaming others. Ofcourse blame the teachers, but I will give anyone to step into my shoes for a day. A child with ADHD is hard to deal with, if not no one would be writing on this post. So imagine for a minute having a class of 30 kids and some with
ADHD. And you want your child to get individual attention. I don't see people jumping up and down when they are trying to cut down the budget from schools. My son has ADHD and I am a teacher and I do all I can for him and my students but the job is tough and being in denial and blaming people is not going to help anyone. What about volunteering in the classroom what about home schooling since some of you think you can do a better job, what about asking their teacher how you can help your child at home, what about hiring a tutor. What about working with the teacher. What about being an advocate for your child. The main thing you need to do is write a letter to your school after you have taken your child to the doctor and got him diagnosed for ADHD or ADD. Request a meeting in writing. Stop blaming and take responsibility for your own child. When there is blame there is no solution.

My daughter has been recently diagnosed with ADD. I have been on a medical leave for a few weeks for depression and this enabled me to work on her ADD issues a bit as well. We are both seeking treatment with counselors and medication, but I feel that I need to go part time at my job in order to continue to assist my daughter with school work. Do I have any legal rights to be allowed to work part time since my daughter has ADD? I can't afford to simply take FMLA; I need to have some form of income, but my daughter needs more attention in order to be successful at school. Do I have any options?
