I've been on here before when my son was first diagnosed w/ ADHD/ODD, over a year ago. He has been taking Ritalin LA and "regular" ritalin each day since April of '07. I found an add recently in a parenting magazine for Vyvasen. It advertised that it lasted longer , about 12 hours, to control ADHD symptons. Seth was taking the 2omg Ritalin LA at 6:30 am and it lasted until approx. 1 or 2 pm. He would then take 15mg of regular Ritalin to get us through hmwk, soccer, piano, scouts, etc.
When I saw this ad, I wanted to try it to allieviate that 3pm dose and have a medicine that would work all day long. I called my doc and he gave me an Rx for it. Seth has been on 50 mg of Vyvasen for a little over a week now. The first day it sort of set him back- tired, didn't eat, no personality. The second day, he bounced right back to normal. Guess it took his body a day to get use to the new meds and dosage. I have noticed that it lasts until 6 or 7 at night. He is Seth, just not loud, obnoxious Seth. You parents with ADHD children know what I am talking about....

I have noticed that some of the ticks the Ritalin gave him are gone. The constant face twitching and the seat picking have stopped! Now, not to say that this new medication couldn't cause new ticks because that is a side effect, I just haven't seen any yet. Overall, I am very pleased w/ this Vyvasen. It is lasting the length of time we need it to and it lets Seth be Seth. If you decide to try it, you can go on line to vyvasen.com and print out a voucher for a free 30 day supply w/ a doctors written Rx.

My son has been on Vyvasen 70 mg for about a year. He is 10 years old and in the fifth grade last year it did okay but this year the teacher is telling me by 11:00 that she is having problems with hime setting still and focusing on his paper. He is trying to turn his papers in before he completes them. He has ADHD with impusliveness.

Jen is that you? What is Vyvasen? Is that like Vyvanse? I am not sure what it is but Austin (My son)is on Vyvanse and I am not sure that it works along with the Risperdal that he is on. I am wondering if he should just be on the Vyvanse (I read that it works for 12 hours too)and am thinking of trying just that to see if it works alone. I hate that he has to take so much medication. It sounds like you might be talking about the same medication that Austin is on, I have seen that commerical and was thinking of talking to his doctor about changing things. His pill is orange and white capsule is that the same thing that you are giving to Seth??
The ticks that the Focalin were giving Austin are also gone and I hope I don't see anymore ticks in him as well. He is still having problems sleeping so the doctor gave him Mirtzaphine for that and it has been a Godsend, he is finally sleeping through the night.
