Hello everyone. I am new and this is my first posting. My son, Jayden, is 4 and was diagnose with moderate autism at age 3. He is a very smart kid but like most kids with autism stuggles with communication which leads to frustration. Jayden is my only child and i am new to all of this. Most days i handle it pretty well but then there are days where i feel helpless. I don't have any friends who can relate to what i am dealing with so i am glad i found this website. So i am just wonderiing if any of you would be willing to chat from time to time so we can help each other out. Thank you

Hi Karen, I have an 11 year old autistic son also. About a year ago he hit a lot at school and at home. He hit his teachers, his brother and me, sometimes very hard. He was called evil by his brother on many occasions. I hired a behaviorist to come to the house but I don't know if it helped all that much. At school, they made him sit outside the classroom and didn't let him participate in his favorite activities. He had to earn his spot back in class and his favorite activities by staying safe. Over the past year, the hitting had decreased dramatically. I felt so sorry for him at school, but I'm glad I supported the school's plan. Trust me I really understand you feeling like your son is evil.

Hi. I work in a school district, as a special-education paraprofessional. I have been blessed to care for and help many different children of various ages, with a variety of challenges. I recently listened to / watched a woman share her incredible story of raising a son with autism. It touched me deeply. Her son was healed, a few years back, and continues to improve in his schooling. I ordered her book and found so much hope in her experience. Hope that applies to everyone, including families with autism but not limited to only autism. My heart goes out to all. If anyone is interested in the details of the book and the radio / t.v. program, please e-mail me at [email protected]. (Since it is my understanding that some things cannot be posted.) With excitement, encouragement, and heart-felt appreciation and compassion to every family touched by especially autism...There IS Hope.

Hi i am new to this . I have a 9 year old son who i am convinced has asbergis . I have had him tested but the results from the so called experts came back that there is nothing wrong with him . He is a very loving child but has no concentration even when getting ready i have to supervise him . He gets really frustrated with things and lashes out . I really need some advice from someone on where to go now for a diagnosis for him . my email address is [email protected]

My 2 1/2 year old Matiah hasn't been diagnosed yet but I have the same problem. She can talk very well, but she often expects an immediate reaction. She does not understand wait, even though we practice it all the time and often it throws her into a fit if she is told just one minute. Its like she doesn't grasp the concept. She also has really bad anxienty, and it has gotten really frustating. I am not sure how to deal with it and her doctor will not give me the referral to get her checked out. Her doctor says she is too social to be autistic, but all the other signs are there. Her communication skills are slowly getting worse and I am scared.

For those of you feeling alone, I promise you are not. My son is now 9 years of age and he is performing wonderfully in school, involved in clubs and socializes with friends. And yes, he has autism. I have been giving tips and suggestions to parents at my blog
