My wife delivered a boy on jan 2003. She could not lactate . We faced many complications for the child as he did not have breast milk to drink. Is there anything i can do now to make her lactate within next one month? I have to prove her that she can lactate .only then, both me and my wife can think of going for the second child.Hence this question please.

Your best bet is to contact a Lactation Consultant. There is no one on the internet that could help you better. Your pediatrician and/or the hospital where your Little One was born should be able to recommend one to you.

It is rare, but not unknown for a woman to be simply unable to lactate.

However, your wife should speak to someone about this problem. There are medications which are safe to use which can stimulate milk production and some herbs as well - I used to use Fenugreek to boost my milk supply.

Please find someone to speak to in order to put your mind at rest. I'm sure that with some help your wife will be fine.

i think fiona is right. i've heard that even adoptive mothers who have never been pregnant can lactate at least a minimal supply on those drugs.
