I finished weaning my 9 week old 8 days ago. I weaned slowly, but am experiencing intense pain and several LARGE solid masses in both breasts. This is my second child - had no issues with first child (breastfeeding/weaning/drying up). I am concerned! How long can breasts stay so hard and lumpy? I have tried cabbage leaves, binding, tylenol, advil and even sudafed. I am worried that this length of pain/hardness is not normal . . . Any help?

did you try massaging them from top of breast in a circular motion down to the nipple? sometimes i'd get hard spots and massaging them out helped!! :-)

Here is a link that maybe helpful. It covers weaning and what to do with engorgement. My little guy self weaned at 14 months so I do not have any personal experience.
