i'm 16.4 weeks pregnant and last night my boyfriend discovered a small lump next to my nipple. it's located on the aereola and is immediately next to my nipple. he even joked and said i was growing a third nipple.
anyways, it's really tender and it's raised. it's the same color as my nipple, not purple or red or anything. but i was hoping it wouldn't be a sign of breast cancer but a clogged milk duct maybe. i haven't begun lactating i don't think because i haven't noticed any leaking of any sort from my breasts. but i figured since it was so close to my nipple that that's what it might be.
can you have a clogged milk duct if you're not nursing yet? and does this sound like it could be a clogged milk duct? if not, what do you think it is??
lol sorry for freaking out but i'm a first timer and i don't see my doctor until the 17th! !

if you can kind of massage it out (so to speak) then it may be a plugged duct. you could also call your dr office and speak to one of the nurses there and if there is any concern then maybe they could move your appointment to an ealier date. I didn't have that until after I starting breastfeeding...during the engorgement stage but every women is different. I'd try rubbing it out and you'll feel the realse of pressure but if that doens't work then call the office...hope this helped.

It sounds like it could be a "skin tag" maybe. I grew one on the side of my nipple. I have no idea why but it happens to some of us when pregnant. I still have it and it doesn't hurt or anything. It also doesn't affect my breastfeeding. I want to remove it but I've read that I need to wait until I'm done nursing so I guess I'm stuck with it for awhile! Mines actually big enough that the baby use to try and suck on it! I just said "sorry you're going to have to work a little harder than that.." lol.

agh thanks you guys! ! i just noticed two smaller ones on my right aereola. i told my boyfriend last night about how i was concerned and then he goes and says, "why? they've ALWAYS been there. Just smaller before". I replied with something along the lines of, they're my breasts, i think i would KNOW if they had lumps on them. but now he's pretty adament that they've been there all along and they're probably just more noticeable now because of the increased amount of estrogen in my system. it makes sense, but i'm still going to ask my doctor about them at my next appointment.
