I wouldn't have thought that VBAC homebirth would be advisable or safe at all. The uterus can rupture following a previous c-section. Although this is uncommon it's still a risk and can lead to death for both mother and baby should it occur.

Also if someone had a previous emergency c-section then the problem that lead to the c-section in the first place may reoccur eg. obstructed labour.

Actually your facts are a little off. I know I've researched it a lot. in most cases a uterine ruptur does not kill mother or baby. it is worse if you rupture with out ever having had a c-section. C-section is more dangerous to the mother and baby in terms of death.

One more thing the things that led to my c-sedction were Dr. caused all the more reason not to be in a hospital.

If you've had a c-section then your uterus is weakened and you have more chance of it rupturing than if you haven't ever had a section.

If you rupture in hospital then they would be able to do something about it immediately. If it happens at home then it's a different story.

The doctor caused me to need a c-section with my first son, but there is no way would I have avoided hospital with my second pregnancy because of this.

In the UK you wouldn't even be able to find someone who was willing to deliver you at home if you'd had a c-section - it would be considered too risky and they'd avoid you like the plague.

Any form of childbirth (in theory) can cause death and pregnancy itself is a health risk, but I don't think anybody should make it worse by taking risks. Go to a different hospital and make out a birth plan before you go in. Insist that they respect your rights.

Thank you but I tried that with my last baby. I am way too afraid of Dr. and hospitals at this point. I don't even think my body could go into labor in a hospital given my fear factor. Maybe I'll just call it quits on having anymore anyway.

Pregnancy is not a health risk. people need to stop viewing it this way so women can have safe births. God designed it and if we take care of our bodies and have good prenatal care most women can deliever safely and naturally. Until Dr. stop intervening women will be at increased risks. We are not here for scientific research.

I understand what you're saying, but it doesn't really matter as long as the baby is born healthy.

I had a c-section with my first son as the stupid doctor did a membrane sweep and this caused my waters to break too early and I didn't go into labour. They induced me, but I didn't dilate because the baby was in the wrong position and I ended up having a c-section as an emergency due to 24+ hours membrane rupture. My son was born with Strep B and was ill and had to go to the neonatal unit. I have hated that doctor ever since and made a complaint about him - he was very rough and didn't even ask if I wanted this intervention - I would have refused had I been given the choice.

I was so worried about my second son being born with Strep B that I opted for a c-section just to ensure that he didn't have it - I didn't even trust the antibiotics they offered me during my trial of labour. I missed out on a proper birth, but all I cared about was my son being okay as I was so scared with my first son - he could have died due to the Strep B.

All this natural birth at home stuff is okay, but as long as the baby is healthy it doesn't really matter. It's only a few hours out of your life compared to a lifetime with a child.

The problem is that it does matter. it is not just about that you had a healthy baby a health mom is equally important. This includes emotional health my c- section felt like rape to me. On strep B almost all women have it. I tested pos in third pregnancy and went over twenty four hours in labor after rupture membranes and sucessfully had a vbac with an excelent midwife. Baby was fine but I did recieve antibiotics during the labor. I'm sorry you opted for a repeat out of fear. You and your baby were in way more danger in this situation that if you would have vbac. Funny my fourth pregnancy I tested neg it turned out c-section anyway. I hate it when they up and change a law on you. I was forced to have a Dr. opposed to a midwife. I didn't know I could deliver at home or I would have. She decieded to section me because the baby refused to just fall out of me. Don't give up hope on a natural birth. You seem so set get educated about the facts read silent knife it will help you see where I am coming from. You can still have a natural birth without fear if you want to.

If you have heard of a midwife in your area, I would recommend talking to her about it. Either she could refer you to someone who has performed VBACs or would give you suggestions for how to proceed. If you end up not being able to have a homebirth VBAC, I would suggest finding a duola. She can help you try for a natural birth in the hospital through her support. Even better if you can find a doula who has had a VBAC herself! Also check out this website as they may have more information.

I had a home birth but it was not a vbac, this was my first child. I had a reasonably long labour but with no complications, i had no stitches at all my baby weighed 8lb 2oz and i am only a very small person. I did have very good care from a midwife who is experienced in home births, she looked after me right through my whole pregnancy, her check up visits went for a whole hour sometimes longer, she would make sure everything was going well she came to my house for these visits. I am pregnant again and i am able to have her look after me again. My advice would be to look for a good midwife who may have experience in vbac.

It seems since I last posted here I may not be having anymore children at least not for five more years and by then I will be getting a bit old to have more.
