Ok so we def. decided to go with an military type theme.......I am sooooo excited, the kids and I prowled the internet this weekend looking for great ideas!

Here is my delima..........We're not playing the traditional type games, the games are gonna be bootcamp type drills......to save time I wanna split the party crowd into 2 teams and let the drill be a compettition........also i don't wanna drag a ton of stuff to the park so i wanna make it simple these are some ideas we came up with......but we're not sure how to order them or how to turn it into a competition.......or if it should even be a competition.
1 weave in and out of cones
2jump and jacks
3 push ups
4 army crawl.....i think we're going to bring 2 boxes for this
5 water gernades
6 tug of war
I don't want to do much more than these because we are having the party at a park and you know kis they can't wait to go play......but any other easy suggestions are def. welcome.

Also I loveeee the invatations we came up with. I made them because I couldn't find what I really wanted. Anyhow I found a pic. of Uncle Sam pointing saying "I WANT YOU FOR THE U.S. ARMY" this is on the front, and on the inside it says
Uncle Sam Wants You
Report to camp.....................(name of park, and i put the address)
for morgan and jeffrey's birthday bootcamp
on May 17, 2008
at 1200 hours (12:00 p.m.)
wear your camos or play clothes and prepare to get wet and dirty
please rsvp to the commanding office by may 14, 2008

well that was kinda how it went anyway i tried to open it and apparently i forgot to save it dammit!!! We'll figure it out again......anyhow the envelope will say attn pvt. .........childs name and i have a stamp here that i can change letters on i am going to stamp top secret mission on it.
Also i love the camo face paint idea...my hubsnad is sooo opposed but i always win so we're doing it anyway.....he just doesn't want parents getting mad so i need to mention somehow that we will be doing this.

Also delima #2 I usually serve food at these parties but this year i don't want to, so much gets wated and most just wanna play anyway, is it rude to opt out of the lunch and just serve cake and the red white and blue popcicles?

PLEASE GIVE ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MILITARY AT ALL!!!!!!!

Have no idea about military either ... but SOUNDS BRILLIANT! Well done you!

It's fine just serving cake and popcicles. It's a kiddies parties. That's what they like to eat. :)

Ok M25 are you just a robot put on here to make us other moms feel like we dont do enough? lol
You've come up with a brillant party plan. I agree with briseis on this one to the cupcakes and popcicles will be plenty.

I disagree a little with the cake and popsicles only, b/c of the time of your party. B/c you're having it at 12 noon, as a parent I would assume you'd be supplying lunch and dessert. I just think you should make it later in the afternoon or let parents know that they need to feed they're kids before they come. Just my humble opinion though! I love your military idea, sounds fun!

Yes you may be right Linsay, I may need to add something in the invatation that says makes it known w/out being rude that theres no lunch......I don't wanna make it later in th e day because my kids will drive me nuts asking me all day is it time yet, lol so i think noon is a good time.

Well thank you Breisis and Nicole, but I did get some of my ideas from this site so it's not all my doing, but I love doing stuff like this, I fnd it fun!!!

Haha...you sound as obsessed as me when it comes to my kids bdays...I love going all out. It sounds like you have it under control. I think only cake and popcicles are perfectly fine to serve...thats usually all I do, BUT I do ususally have my parties 2-3pm so its not a normal "dinner" time---so I agree w/ Lindsay, something needs to be said since it is at noon ("mess hall is closed for lunch, serving dessert after bootcamp"...or something like that)!

On the face paint: I would make sure to ask parents if its okay before hand....my friend just had a butterfly party and painted butterflies on the girls faces, well one little girl was allergic to the paint and the parents weren't too happy....

About the food:

Have you ever had a party at noon before?
Because if you haven't, this time they kids might ACTUALLY be hungry and will eat.

Tell me how it was in the past with food going to waste and such.

Oh and everything else sounds really cool.

There no need to be that accurate in the military theme unless you are directly invloved (in my opinion). I would give you a pass.... BUT you did awesome with the concept and theme.

Also, instead of real food like burgers, and sandwiches.

How about watermelons, grapes, apples, cheese and crackers. Stuff along those lines.

Some substance before the cake and popciles?

I love the Card Ideas!!! SOOO FRICKEN CUTE!!!!!!

i think its fine to paint the kidds faces, who cares, its a birthday the parents should expect it! any ways i think snacks cake and ice cream would do just fine.

Name: zoey9810 | Date: Apr 7th, 2008 11:44 PM
may be just mention the face painting thing so if they are allergic then the parents would say something.

i don't think its necessary to say any thing about the food, just provide snacks, when kids are having fun they dont sit down for a meal they grab a hand full of chips and run off! so just provide snacks and fruit and veggies and drinks and you are good to go!

All my kids have camo's except Emilee, but I think I can find a camo onsie at wal-mart or target by May, as for Chris and I we have nothing....but I have seen grey t-shirts at wal-mart that have army printed in black......but as for camo pants.....I dunno, lol

Drb.......all the party stuff is basically army, doesn't really specify dif. like air force or marine, lol......I do recall one sight that had 1 thing marine but I can't remember what it was now.......You'd think I should know more about all this I was born on base my dad was air force but my parents split when I was young to so never lived on base or anything as an older child.........

hey why dont you do a costume type thing. tell them to dress up like military, whichever branch, you know someone always knows someone in the military. we stgill have them as adults, its a little easier seeing as alot of us are in. also you can go to an army navy surplus store they sell uniforms but kind of pricey. and like i said before god i wish bootcamp
was that simple lol

Bump

OK the party is not this weekend but next and I still have not got a staedy plan as to how to order the activities and how to go about getting them started, lol I'm usually not shy, lol but I feel kinda weird acting like a drill srg. LOL I need some advice on how to start this w/out looking like aweirdo in front of other parents, lol. Also what order can I put the activities in....Coart suggested I do like a relay type thing.....any ideas

Name: Opheiliamath | Date: May 6th, 2008 6:03 PM
You can do a bunch of PT stuff.

You can do a relay race.

You can do a strength test. Put some rocks (or anything kinda heavy) out next to a bag. Ask how many do they think they can lift. And if you can lift let's say 5, you have passed the strength test.

Endurance Test: How long can you run in place? If you can do it for 3 minutes, you've passed.

Some people fall to realized beside all the physical stuff the recruits also study academics. I'm not sure if you would like to have them "think" at a birthday, but maybe if you make if fun like a speed round kind of thing so it's fast and painless.
