I was just wondering when everyone is having (or had) their baby shower. I was told I "had" to have it after 8 months.. because if people are going to be buying presents they "better see some belly!"... but 8 months for me is smack dab in the middle of holiday season, and I'm at risk for pre-term, so anything later and I might not get one at all. Is it okay to do it at 5,6,or 7 months?

i'm personally going to have mine at like 6.5 or 7, i'm just having a regular pregnancy as far as they can see so far... but for you i'd definately have it at 6 - 6.5 no earlier though....

i'm having mine next month. I"m currently 26 weeks...my shower is on August 13th, so i'll be just over 7 months...err roughly 31 weeks. They say that a baby shower should be held 1-2 months before the due date. However some people believe in having the shower after the baby is born. It's technically up to you. There's no really right or wrong. After all a Baby Shower is to celebrate a new baby being brought into the world.

With my first I was due on February 13 which ran through the holiday season. I was afraid that no one be able to show up it I had it later because of the Holiday. My Shower actually ended up being first week in November which is right before the major holidays. So I would have been almost 6 months at that time.

There is no real rule as to when you should have a baby shower. Most people I think have their baby shower before the baby is born but there are some who actually have the shower after the baby is born as well.

I agree make sure that there is someone there to hand you your gifts. I actually had one of my little cousins doing that job.

So what happens at baby showers? We dont have that tradition in England, usually people come visit and bring pressies after the baby is born.Sound like a good idea though.
