Hi Beverly,

You need to be more specific. Castor oil is used in many ways, and for many things. So, what exactly are you asking? Does it work on/for what?

i heard that it cleans you out and gets labor started but could be painful do you want to give birth while having diareah on the table. I dont think it sounds like a good idea.

Hey Bev,

I used castor oil with my last pregnancy and girl....I couldn't tell if I was having contractions or sh*t pains....but I drank the whole lil bottle and boy was it nasty....it did start my labor but I was also induced the next morning also....so there is no determination if it helped or not...but I did not poop while in labor, i didi all the night before and I got hemeroids also....i would never do it again that is for sure.

I did it twice. Both of my kids were born within 6 hours. My friend however drank it 1 week before her due date and nothing happened. The key is that you need to be very close to your due date and you have to drink all 4 ounces. Coincidence or not-it worked for me!!

i took castor oil, 3 ounces, when it was 3 days before my due date. i drank it at about 4 pm and went into labor at about 9 pm. i did have 2 bowel movements first but nothing i couldnt deal with. my son was born less than 12 hours after i drank it, at 4:44 am. i did call my nurse before i drank it and she said i would probably have a bowel movement but the castor oil would not harm the baby. my sister in law did the castor oil twice and had her babies by the next day, both times. it does taste disgusting though, kind of like thick, liquid vaseline. i suggest you drink a little at a time and chase it with juice or else you will gag. by the way. after i went into labor, it was less than 8 hours before my son was born and only about 3 hours was painful labor. i was only at the hospital for 2 hours before his birth and i did it without drugs. i say this because a lot of people say that castor oil slows labor or makes it more painful. not for me, and i didnt poop during it either! i am 31 weeks right now and if my baby isnt here by 39 weeks, i am trying it again. good luck and let us know how the birth goes
