I was just wondering when I should add ounces to my sons feedings. He is only 14 days old but acts as if he will die if I don't give him another bottle. He is only allowed 2 ounces as far as I know at this point? I honestly don't remember when I changed my 4 year olds because he had reflux problems and I was forever changing his formula..

Well brandy my dr. told me to let my son drink as much as he wants until he is full. The best thing to do would be to call your doctor and see what he says. but i would start giving him three oz. if he wants it. And just go from there. As long as he seems comfortable he should be fine. If he eats to much he will let you. Also try the binki. Maybe he just wants to suck. Hard to say! Are you breastfeeding?

My son was the same way when he was born. In the hospital they told me that he probably would only drink between 1 adn 2 ounces which he did for the first couple of days in the hospital but by the third day he was insisting on more. By 2 months my son was eating between 4 and 5 ounces. I spoke to his doctor and she told me that if he'll eat let him, that he would stop when he was full. So there was no worry that he was going to eat to much. His pediatrician also had a start cereal as well because formula just wasn't keeping him full.

You should of course talk to babies pediatrician before adding cereal to your son diet. But as far as adding more formula or breastmilk (not sure what you are giving your son) there shouldn't be a problem. Again he's not going to over eat, he'll stop once he is full.

I am bottle feeding him and I will go ahead and start 4 oz. to see what he does. He 100% hates the binki and has not taken one since he was born. I will plug him up but he spits it right out. I dunno if that makes my life easier or harder.. LoL. Thank you much for the input and I will let ya'll know if the lil' porker takes to it.

My son was the same way with the binki. Sometimes I really wished he would take it. But he never did. So in the long run it will be good. You just have to get past the first month or two. It all gets so much better. My son will be four months on the 11th of july. And I know him so much more now and he is a lot easier to care for. But he drinks 6 oz. now. Sometimes only four. but mostly six. he is getting so BIG!! is this your first Brandy?

I have a 4 year old as well.. He will be 5 in Nov. He loved his binki. All I had to do was pop that sucker in and he was out like a light. He ended up taking himself off of it at 6 months. Couldn't keep his lil' paws off of it.
Anyhow, I ended up trying 4 ounces this afternoon and he did pretty well with it but he is clogged up right now so I think I may wait until he can get that cleared.

My boy is 5 weeks old and sometimes drinks 3oz....just depends. If your baby acts like he wants more food give it to him. Every baby is a little differnt, but I would talk to a doctor to make sure. My son started with eating 2oz but is slowly realizing he would like more.

He is working on his 4th bottle of 4oz. He is taking to them pretty well and tends to be less cranky! I can only say a thank you prayer for that one! hehe.

i dont think you can feed a baby too much... but i wouldn't really know. i think the 2 ozs. is the minimum he should be drinking.

I am having a problem with his poop being hard. The Dr. says it is not considered constipation unless he does not have a BM for 72 hours. When he does get it out it is like rabbit poo. They told me I could give him an ounce of water per month old he is.. so he would get 1/2 an ounce twice a day. Said it will soften then poo and he should be just fine. I am going to start on that today and see where it gets us.

As far as his poo... Lexi was a mess as far as this goes... I had to give her supositories all the time... even stick my pinky in there a lil bit... gross I know but I was so worried she would go days and days with nothing then like you said lil rabbit droppings!! Also Doc gave me a prescription which was the same thing as straight fruit juice... cant remember what it is called but it work just a tad bit a day and she started going prettty good.

I asked about the Karo Surup and the Dr says that is fine to use in small amounts. The water just was not doing it for him...
