I ams o stressed out about the GD testing. My Doctor gave me the solution and told me to drink it one hour before my appointment and then they will draw my blood when I get there. I asked what happens if you don't get me in the house right on my appointment time, ( how many doctors do...lol) and she said not to worry if they test me 15 minutes to a half hour late it won't effect my numbers. How can that be? Won't my numbers be off, show me higher than what it would or lower? And then couldn't they miss diagnos and make me take the three hour test, when I don't need it. Iam so confused and stressed... this must be great for the baby. Help, please someone explain to me what will happen to my numbers and if I should worry. Thank You!!

i have never heard of the doctor giving you the drink..usually you go to the place an hour before and they give it to you and you drink it there and wait a hour there....

yeah most doctors make you sit there and they have to watch you drink it. this is the way they have alway done it on me.....they give you the drink, you have 5min max to drink the whole container. they sit and watch you drink it. then you have to sit in the waiting room for an hour (you are not aloud to leave the building!) then they check you suger levels......
having you just drink the stuff before you come in doesn't sound like it will give you a ver accurate reading. really it will prolly make you numbers lower than what they should be. which means in thereoy if you do have gd they might not catch it.

My doctors office sends you home with it and has you drink it before your appt. and they test the blood at their office and then if it's too high, then they send you to a lab to have the three hour test done, where you drink it there.

I don't think 15 minutes off will affect you, but maybe a half hour? Not sure. Just be sure to let them know when you get there that you are supposed to be tested at an exact time and get there early so that they can try to arrange to get you in on time.
For sure don't do any exercise or heavy walking after you drink it. When I had GD, if my numbers were high, I just had to do some speed walking around the house for about 15 minutes to lower them.

i went to the cpl lab here in my town it wasnt a dr that drew my blood it was a phlembotomist (sc). she gave me the drink and told me to let her know when i needed to go back. i told her it was time and i went back and it was done in like 10 min. they might do it different where you are from but a dr did not do mine and it was done on time. good luck.

my doc gave it to me before the test as well and told me to drink it an hour before. here is the solution:

drink it an hour before your actual appt time, arrive 15 minutes early and tell the receptionist what time you drank it. then they will have plenty of time to get you back there. this worked very well for me!
