Anyone have gestational diabetes? I just took the test and it came back that I have it. I'm a bit nervous. How did you deal with it?

it's not hard to deal with gestational diabetes.. a friend of mine had it through her pregnancy and she just ate sensibly and layed off the sugary stuff til it went away..and she was fine as well as the baby... I would look up information in diabetes diets...so you know what you can and can not eat.. and also consult with your doctor for more information.. that's going to be your best bet..

Ginny, did you take the second test? After I failed the first one, I had to do a 3 hour test where I had to go back each hour and be tested. Not fun, but I passed that one. Turns out on the first test I had a salad for lunch since the test was late in the afternoon and it interfered with blood sugar levels. (I had been told it would be okay, but guess not). Anyway, it's pretty common, I think you just need to watch what you eat a little more. Good luck, you'll be okay!

Ginny, diabetes clinics are wonderful! They nutritionists that will help you plan out your meals and what you can and can not eat. They will show you lots of stuff actually. my friend who i mentioned earlier when she found out, she also went to a diabetic nutritionist and this lady was the most helpful person in the world.. but pretty much they're going to advise you to lay off the sweet stuff and show you how you can tell by the symptoms if your blood sugar levels are too hight or too low.

it's really easy to cope with, and they'll help you find a way so that you can still eat your favorite foods.. Good luck and let us know how the appt at the clinic goes!!
