How does everybody sort out the housework?!

I try to arrange it in and around naps, but it just doesn't seem to be getting done.
There aren't enough hours in the day if I have to eat as well!
:(

Somebody give me some tips!

Well here's a copy of my routine with Joey.

7am - Day begins with Joey; I feed, change and wash him, and then set him in his highchair whilst I wash and have breakfast and then do my morning chores:

Morning chores - Tidy house, empty bins, Washing up, Make up Bottles, Feed birds and fish, Vacuum downstairs, Pick up dog mess and let dogs out.

9am - I give Joey some solids, and then set him in front of the TV for a while, so that I can get dressed for the day.

10am - Joey and I go for a walk with one of my dogs.

11am - I feed and change Joey, and then he's put in front of the TV for another while whilst I have lunch.

12noon - Joey sits in his bouncer watching me do my afternoon chores. These vary depending on what day it is.

Monday - Polishing and Dusting and Clean out Bird Cage.
Tuesday - Clean Bathroom.
Wednesday - Laundry. (which goes on all day)
Thursday - Vacuuming and Mopping.
Friday - Groom dogs, and clean fridge/oven.

1pm - Joey has more solids. But it's normally around 2pm by the time I'm finished my afternoon chores. Then I have a snack.

3pm - I feed and change Joey, and then he has a nap for an hour, while I do the washing up, and then surf the web for a while.

4pm - I wake Joey, and start dinner.

5pm - Mark comes home, we have dinner, I feed Joey his solids, and then Mark spends time with Joey while I do the washing up.

6pm - I bath Joey while Mark walks the dogs.

7pm - I feed Joey, then put him to bed for the evening.

11pm - Joey has a final bottle. :)

you put him in front of the tv an awful lot.......

Name: briseis | Date: Mar 25th, 2008 2:48 PM
I wouldn't say so; he watches the babyfirst channel from around 9.30 till around 9.50 so that's 20 minutes.

Then at 11.15 he's put in front of the TV till around noon so that's 45 minutes.

In total over an entire day that's a total of 1 hour and 5 minutes, over 2 sessions. I wouldn't call that a lot.

Anyway, he normally lies on his playmat with the TV on happily playing with his toys. He's not watching it the entire time. But he enjoys it, and I see nothing wrong with it.

Lola, anyway, that's my routine, and I always get my housework done, eat well, and Joey is happy and content.

How do I cope with house work?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!

I DON'T.

I've come to the conculsion when I went back to work, I can't get it all done EVERYNIGHT.

I'm ok with a dirty house once in a while. LOL....I really am. I'm not a dirty person though!.

The kitchen HAS to be clean though. My pet peeve dirty kitchen.

My room, doesn't have to be clean to a tee.

But with me since I work, real down and dirty cleaning are on weekends.

Good luck Lola.

6:00 a.m. i get up w/ my husband and we make the bed and i get him off to work. then get my makeup on, hair fixed and dressed....funny ehh i remember i used to take 2hrs fixxing myself up and now i get it done in like 20-45min.

6:30 a.m. i get a cup of coffee or hot tea, and check my emails, and of course post in b/c before i wake my kids

7:00 a.m. I wake my kids, the older ones dress theierselves and brush their teeth and i dress the younger ones and get their teeth brushed

7:10 a.m.i fix the 3 girls hair

7:20 a.m. they eat breakfeast and i run out real quick to start my van so it's warm for them unless it's warm enough and we walk

7:40 a.m. i take them to school then we come home and my 3yr old watches his cartoons while i clean up the breakfeast mess and start a load of laundry

8:00 a.m. depending on what we're having but 80% of the time
(esp during the winter) i go ahead and get dinner started and going or at least mixed up and ready to pop in the oven or whatever later

8:30 a.m. usually i have phone calls to make or return or bills to pay or something

9:00 a.m. we play for a bit or if the 2 younger ones find something to intrest them on their own i get some laundry folded and put away or if theres nothing to do i of course post in babycrowd

9:30 a.m. we usually color for a bit or play w/ playdough or water colors whatever jacob (my 3 yr old) wants to do

10:30 a.m. i feed the kids lunch

10:50 a.m. i put them down for naps and then clean the lunch mess, if i have more laundry i go down and switch clothes over, pick up the toys and straighten the rest of the house.

11:30 am. i eat and do whatever else needs to be done while the kids are sleeping

12:30 p.m. the kids wake up and we go play outside if the weather allows

3:00 p.m. we pick up the kids on wed. we pick them up at 2:00

3:10 p.m. i give the kids a snack and look over their school paper they brought home

3:30 p.m. i help the kids with they're homework

4:00p.m. if i haven't gotten dinner started or done already i start it while the 4 older kids go downstairs and play in the toyroom or outside in the backyard...emilee usually hangs around underneath me while i do this

4:45 p.m. we don't bath this early in the summer but in the winter while it gets dark early...(which is changing now) anyway i have the kids go down and start their showers, the girls go together first, then i send down my oldest son when they're done

5:30 p.m. my husband gets home and we eat

6:00 p.m. my husband and i clean the kitchen mess

6:30 p.m. one of us bath jacob and emilee

we hang out the rest of the night or do whatever it is that needs to be done and just relax and visit

8:00 p.m. the kids go to bed, and we tidy the house (i can't stand things out of their place or to wake up to a dirty house) so i pick it up and run the vacumm and mop the kitchen

8:30 p.m. we shower

AND THEN DO IT ALL AGAIN, LOL

friday's are my major cleaning days when i clean the whole house from top to bottom, such as, bleach bathrooms, dust, windex, just the stuff you don't do on an everyday basis. The 2 younger kids usually do small things to help and follow me room to room while i do this.

Our scd. also gets altered a bit if we have appt.'s or errans to run, this is a typical day, sometimes we do other stuff other than what i said, and i am on and off this site if the kids are playing on their own. Housework is time consuming no matter what, but if you keep on top of it daily and keep it picked up when it's time to do the major stuff it''ll be that much easier.....we train our kids when your done w/ it put it back where you got it, ya know one thing out at a time, also if you see something outta place pick it up even if you didn't do it or it's not yours it only takes a second. Also we DO NOT allow toys in their rooms, they have a toyroom for that and it stays spotless, because of how we've trained them to be, also we have all their toys in labeled clear totes, theres totes for ech type of toys...ya know like one for legos,, one for lincoln logs, barbies, dolls, dress up, ect.

HOPE THAT HELPED

Me too, I don't know how you're that organized with 5 kids. I'm scared of what'll be like with two! Gabbie's just at the point now where she'll occupy herself with toys, books or tv while I get things done. But there was a long time where things weren't getting done everyday!

I don't worry too much about the house. I would rather have a happy kid : ) Kaden and I play a lot. I don't like him to watch TV unless I REALLY need to get something done. More often that is an important phone call etc.
I do things like dishes and sweeping the kitchen and living room while he is eating his breakfast or lunch. Laundry is easy to do anytime because I can gather everything up while he plays.
Bathrooms and mopping etc. usually get done on weekends when my husband is home. We do all the big jobs in shifts while one of us watches Kaden.

WOW, we def dont have a schedule like that!!!!

I go to work at 9:30- 4 sometimes till 2:00 or 5

i get home take care of tyler by that point hes a bout ready for a nap, lay him down and have some time with chris, then chris goes to work at 5:45 tyler wakes up at about 6:30-7:30 i make dinner feed him and then he is off to bed, he gets his baths at night but not every night. and then hes out. and wakes up once or twice and chris his home around 3:30-4 and then tyler finally gets up at 7:30-8ish plays for a little bit, some times watches baby einestine and then im off to work so chris deals with him. cleaning only happens if i do it, and i mostly do that at night, some times chris will start laundry but then i still have to flod it and put it away.

he is always too tired to do any thing, hes sawing logs right next to me, and its almost 2:00pm

I can usually get done what I'd like to in a day, since I'm a SAHM and just have Gabbie at the moment. And, I hate to ask Mark to do things around home b/c he works hard during the day at work. But, he does have to clean the toilet and bathtub right now since I'm preggers, I insist on bleach! But, it doesn't get done nearly as often as when I'm able to it regularly.

That's a good routine you've got goin' Gill! I must say, you do a lot more work than I would in a day! I need to have me-time durin' the day where I just sit down and read while Mia plays! Probably why I don't get much done! LOL
Mia's the same with the TV though. When she gets bored in her pen during the day fussing. I take her out and lay her on her playmat with toys and just the sound of the characters on the Baby Channel instantly perks her up. She lets out little screams of joy when somethin' she like comes on and then starts bangin' her toys around and laughin'. I love it. I see no harm in it either. So long as it isn't used as a 24 hour babysitter! LOL
And I admit that it's what help's me get important things done. Like if I'm havin' a shower. The T.V. has to be done. You know...Because I can't be there to entertain her when she gets bored.

Ophelia. My place most of the time has clothes strewn somewhere or toys or cups! And I'm okay with that too! Just not when it keeps piling up...which it keeps doing!
I even made up a list of things to do to keep myself in check every day...and guess what...there are still bottles in the sink that need doing and it's after 10pm! Argh!!

M25 are you serious?!?!?!?!??!?!
o_O
I'd rip my hair out. Every single hair. One by one!! You must be EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh, I feel lazy....I do nothing and I mean NOTHING in comparison to all of what yee've mentioned! : /

So what is it that makes you get up and just get it done instead of kicking back with coffee and child playin'?! I find myself doin' that TOO much! LOL

God...

hahaha...it's not as bad as it seems....you kinda get into a routine......

I get easily irritated and frustrated w/ a messy house, and my husband is also a neat freak......and i think i turned my kids into somewhat neat freaks....work in progress....but one of my kids teachers did tell me that the kids were told to clean there desk tops and when she looked over my kids desk top and chair was clean and and she had the chair flipped over cleaning the bottom, lmao

As far as the t.v. watching goes, my husband and I and my five year old are all about it. I don't usually use it as a babysitter cuz I am usually watching his shows with him but that probably is still just as bad. He has pre-school three times a week and this is our schedule

6:30 wake him up and turn on his favorite station (noggin) while I take shower and get ready for work
7:00 get him breakfast, brush teeth, dressed and ready for school
7:30 out the door, drop him off at pre-school and I off to work
6:30pm I get home (his father picks him up from pre-school/daycare at 5pm) eat/start dinner if husband hasn't done so yet
7-8:00 we watch our shows either together or in separate rooms depending...and that is when I fold laundry too
8:00-9:00 get joey bathed and in pj's, read at least four bedtime stories
9:00 husband leaves for work and joey gets to watch another show until about 9:15 and then he goes to bed.

so housework usually gets done on my day off and on the weekends and that is when I do let my son watch probably too much t.v. He likes movies and his favorite shows and he plays his computer games on nick jr. when the weather is nice we go outside on and off and do a lot more things not t.v. related.
