Has anyone ever used or heard of anyone using castor oil to induce their labour? What happened?

yes i have. my sister used it at 37 weeks pregnant. she took it at 9.00 pm, her water broke at 2 am and she had a baby girl at 8 am. my mother has 6 kids and used it for 3 of them. i bought some the other night(i am 36 weeks) and if my dr wont do my c section when she is supposed to, i am taking the stuff when im 37.5 weeks. i cant handle being pregnant anymore. how far along are you?

38 weeks tomorrow. I took a 4oz bottle of it yesturday at 10.30am. All I did is have a severe case of the runs throughourt the day, abdominal cramping and back ache which is assumed to be like labout but it was not painful at all just uncomfortable, and here I am the next morning still pregnant.

my doc says it will only work if you are dilated but that it wont hurt you or your baby. try it again in a few days. it took my mom twice with 2 of her six kids. do you know what you are having? when is your due date?

I'm having a littel girl. My due date is 9th March. I don't think I will want to go through that again, I will just wait for her to come naturally, unless I go over my due date in which case the Dr. will most probably intervein. Why do you want a c section done? won't you feel ripped off for not going through the labour? I think that is the most important part of having a baby.

no anne marie, i wont feel ripped off. this is my first pregnancy, and she is breech, and weighs almost 8 pounds. i was very small before i got pregnant. my dr doesnt want me to deliver vaginally. whatever is healthiest for the both of us is what i want. my dr doesnt want her to get HUGE so she is going to intervein. i am so miserable. what are you naming your baby?

Oh bugger, my baby was breech too up until a couple of weeks ago, I was nervous as all hell. But you are definitely right, if it best for the baby it has to be done. I am naming my girl Charlotte Elizabeth. I'm an old fashion English girl at heart still and like the more traditional names; I'm not into the exotic names that are out and about now with strange spellings. What about you? What are you having and have you picked out any names yet?

charlotte elizabeth is beautiful! yes i am having a little girl, naming her kelsey lynn. my dr has no hope that my baby will turn. i just want her out, im so paranoid that something will be wrong. at what week did your baby turn?

Name: Anne-Marie | Date: Feb 22nd, 2006 2:42 AM
That is a nice name too; I've never heard of Kesley. I was 33 weeks or 34 weeks when she turned, it was not the nicest sensation in the world and was in fact pretty dam uncomfortable, but I knew whe had turned if you know what I mean; I just did not feel the same and when I felt her she did not feel the same. The kicks were different and in a different place and my pelvis was suddenly 'full'.

I went to the Dr. and he confirmed that she had turned - it was a great moment. Up until that time I was fretting about how I was going to dleiver, and like you, that I would probably need a C, which is what lead to thoughts of feeling ripped off; going through all this to have a 10 minute opeation to extract my baby... humph!

But it is not the case and I will have to go through the agonising excruciating pain all women have to go through. I am having a 9lb-er too, so wish me luck please!

of course i wish you all the best. is this your first? are you going to use drugs? (pain relief) my doc said she will think about doing it at 37.5 weeks but i dont wfoant my water to break and then them have to do an emergency c section. i want it to be planned but then again, what if she isnt ready. is your baby active? i swear, the past 5 days mine hasnt stopped moving. i cant even be intimate with my husband because she is always moving.

I don't know about the pain relief, it would be nice to go without but if I need it I need it... I don't suppose you know your pain tollerance till you are in that situation. I am not overtly against it but I am not begging for it either, I'll just see how I go.

My baby is VERY active, my whole body moves when she does. Having said that yesturday and today she has been very quiet which is unusual to say the least. I got a good night's sleep last night in fact, only getting up once in the night, but falling right back to sleep - that is unusual. I will often get up at 3 o'clock and stay awake until 5.30am and then spend the rest of the day trying to fit in a 30-60 minutes nanna nap when I can find the time.

It's so funny how even though I'm not working any more I am still so busy and never seem to have much free time. And it's going to get even worse when bubs is here hehehe and I plan to get back to work within a couple of months too.

I am sure everything will be fine with your baby. 37.5 weeks is fairly early for your waters to break naturally, and I am sure that if you worry and are anxious about it your baby will be able to feel that so try to not worry. 2 weeks is a pretty normal amount to be induced or to have a planned C so I am sure you will be just fine.

Hey just think, if I am on time and you are induced, with our time difference in pregnancy we may have our babies with a day or two of one another - how cool would that be?

my doctor advised against me taking it because it can cause distress for the baby. i did take it anyway because i was overdue and tired of being pregnant but he didnt want to come lol all i did was be sick it was rotten.

Yes I've heard of it. The only side effect I've heard of is that it will give you expolosive diarahea for a couple days so don't plan on making any plans if you start to use it.
Cheers!!
