Most of you know that this past October, my husband chris got back from a 15 month long deployment to Germany, and he was gone for my entire pregnancy, missed our son being born by a day, and missed the first 5 months of his life, well just last week he got notified that he might be going to Iraq in Aug or Sept. Right now it is a Voulenteer thing, but only if they can get the people to go, which wont happen, so most likely he will be going. On Saturday we got a letter in the mail, again asking him to go on another mission, so now he has to choose between the two jobs one he gets a $2000 bonus and the other he doesnt, one is working corrections and the other is some sort of telecommunications..

All this news is very hard, and even though it isnt set in stone yet that he is actually going, i cant help but think about him not beine next to me every morning when i wake up or his kisses or his touch. this sucks, and hes going to miss a nother year of Tyler's and Our life.. the only positive thing is that it will be good money and it might give me the chance to go back to school. but do the pros out weigh the cons??

so im sure i will be on here more often in the months to come, you ladies helped me sooo much the first time around and i just wanted to say thankyou to every one, i couldnt of done it with out your support and keeping me some what sane

hahah hopefully he wont knock me up before he leaves again!!! LMAO!!

They wanted my husband to volunteer for the Aug. mission but he decided against and decided he'd go the year after with his infantry, he volunteered. Is your husband ANG?

Aw Lauren, I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Mark used to go away on business trips all over the world for 2 weeks at a time, and I thought that was bad ... But i couldn't imagine dealing with what you deal with.

If he goes, is he given any indication of how long he will be away?

Anyway big hugs to you. xxx

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all this again. I know what you are going through, my husband got out of the Army in Oct. 2004 and 3 days before Thanksgiving in 2006 he received out of the clear blue sky orders telling him that in Jan. 2007 he had to report for training and was being sent back to Iraq. We ended up filing a medical thing for injuries he got in Iraq and Afganistan so his orders would get extended and they delayed them, but he is still on active duty standby and could be called up anytime. He also had previously received those volunteer letters asking him to go on a mission, but he never did. In my opinion, as long as it's a volunteer thing and Chris has a choice he should stay home and then of course if it becomes something that isn't a volunteer thing then there is unfortunately nothing he can do, but I say him staying home and being with you and Tyler and being safe outweighs the money. That's just me though.

Aw man, that sucks Lauren. Like you said he might not be going but preparing yourself and having an idea of how things/life will work while he's gone is a good thing.

If he does go, will is be another 15 months?

No this time around will only be 12 months, still long but it sure as hell beats 15+ months, for that tour we thought it was going to be 18 months, but they got to come home early!

But ya thats what im trying to do , prepare my self just encase he does go, which is More than likely!

oh and yes hes in the Army National Guard, hes been in for some where around 9 years and he gets out in 2011 right now.

It's good to prepare yourself just in case, the pain this war causes the families of the military is awful, I'll be around if you ever need to talk.
